  • So you say. Chances are when you're ready to move, you'll find a house that one of you falls in love with and game over. Btw, we had a detailed survey and experienced complete catastrophe within three years. Could stand in a ground floor room and look up to see sky! We don't live in a bungalow. Did try the surveyor but couldn't afford repairs and legal action and needed somewhere habitable to live.

Without being a grump, we can't afford a house in Glasgow that either of us is likely to fall in love with

Our first house will likely be something uninspired with reasonable build quality, 3 bedrooms and a decent catchment area.

Can I have a quick sanity check?

Went to a brewery with siblings and was mortified when a bearded hipster pointed out that he'd spent £100 on a bottle of beer.

Younger sibling gave the impression that I was a mean square for judging how the guy spent his money.

£100 - reasonable or not?

I compared it to costing £10 more than a really good bottle of whisky that would provide 30 drinks, he couldn't see the connection.

I think you will find it's more hops. And maybe barley. :D

Do you think this is one of those 'emotional' decisions where reason goes out the window? I wouldn't dream of paying that for a bottle of beer as it's *hugely* expensive for the stuff and I don't really like it, but I could potentially conceive of paying that much for a bottle of rare spirits or perhaps really ridiculously good wine once in my lifetime for a really special occasion (champage for an engagement etc.). Perhaps for beer lovers it's a thing?

But yeah, for me, spirits can be diluted down more. A beer would have to be made of liquid gold to justify that price for me!
