Engagement ring advice.

Right I am going to Brighton tomorrow for the day with a plan of getting an engagement ring for my girlfriend. Obviously this is a major purchase and I've done research into ring size, type etc and am taking my female friend with me for advice! My question is should I take the cash or leave it all on my card and pay for it that way? Thanks for the help.

How much are you planning on spending?

anything over £100 it's adviseable to use credit card.

    Less than that take cash.

I dont see any benefit taking cash unless you're bartering for some antique ring.

Also, I wouldn't be too keen on bringing a female friend for advice unless you're known for hideous taste.

It would mean more to me if my hubby to be brought me something HE thought I'd like. I'd like it for the thought and effort even if I don't like they style of the ring.

I wouldn't be happy if another woman picked my engagement ring. Let your girlfriend choose her own - she's the one that will wear it.
  • I paid for mine in cash because I thought it would be better for negotiating the price.

It wasn't of any benefit really; you should just put it on a card really. If they take credit card, be MSE and use a cashback one :)

do you know her exact ring size? this is pretty exact, so DO NOT guess.

also, just my opinion, but why don't you just buy a cheap "token" ring, then go with your girlfriend and choose together.

an engagement ring is a very personal thing and do you really want to take the risk that she might not like it? it's supposed to be worn forever, remember.
