A disabled child being verbally abused by an employee

My son, who has autism, has been called a "weirdo" by a public service employee on a public service, and I feel it is a gross injustice, apart from the fact that my son is a child and the person name calling him in public is an adult.
Does anyone know of any clauses on the Disability Act, that I can use to pursue the matter?

Does your son work with this man or was he a service user? You should be making a complaint to the service manager.

    Equality Act 2010 now.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Rather than trying to find legalese that you're not comfortable with, put your complaint in lay terms. Explain what happened and what you would (reasonably) like to happen as a result - unless the chap has a history this will probably be a warning and diversity training, and of course a written apology to your son.
  • From what you wrote I'm taking a guess it was maybe a bus driver?

What do you want to come from this? An apology? Compensation? Reprimandation?

Cheeky B*rstard. I bet HE was more 'weird' than your son or any other autistic person would be. Git.

Yep, I would write to the upper management of the company he works for.

Don't waste time quoting legal jargon. It shouldn't be too hard to Google the company and write a brief letter to their complaints department or senior management stating the facts.

If they've got any sense they'll send a letter of apology.

The complication is that I work for the same company, and I just want to get hold of this person and scare the hell out of him, whilst tearing into him and giving him a very big piece of my mind. I would assume I would see him shrink.

you do that and you are just as bad and expect to be pulled up by your employers.

In that case why not just ask for an apology directly? If he refuses a quick letter to HR might encourage him further...
