Cheers guys, I really am happy with his progress. Now he's started following me around which makes my heart swell :-)
And earlier today I found him lying inside his Hot Pink cat carry box... which bodes well if we ever need to use it to take him to the V.E.T...!!

Have another look at the photo you posted today of Derek upside down, fast asleep, and consider how happy he's become since you brought him home and he hid behind the TV for days. He knows you're his forever family. He knows he's onto a good thing!

martin - that is one happy, contented cat! he is relaxed with you - and if he was in way 'pining' he wouldn't be. honestly, I think he is happy that he is training you both well. he is well fed, entertained, has various places to sleep comfortably, has toys and treats. he is in 'kitty paradise'.
I read somewhere that a cat who will sleep with its belly exposed, is a cat who is totally relaxed and trusts that no harm will befall it.

Have you tried gently rubbing his belly when he is asleep like that?


Madame Tibsey sleeps like that all the time and loves a belly rub, she purrs away like a motorboat. If you then start to rub her chest between her front legs though, the claws come out and she attacks! lol. I love putting my face into her when she sleeps like that, she smells of freshly laundered clothes dried outside, she is so clean and the fur is so soft. Rusty used to honk( stink) if you did that to him ! lol

He just climbed into it again for a little rest



I'm still dreading the first time we actually *need* to get him inside it...
