sanctioned for cancelling JSA morning signing as needed to prep for an interview in a

Hi,
I have been told that I maybe sanctioned.
I got a last minute job interview, so left a message to ask if I could sign on the following day.
I could of made the signing on however this would be cutting it fine and leave no time to prep for the interview.
Is this right that they should do this?
The job was a well paid role, so really did need the time to prep and did seam pointless to waste time signing on on the day when I could be preping for interview.
Any advice is appreciated thanks

Prepping for an interview is not a valid reason not to sign on. You have the right to appeal but I expect the decision will stand.0

If you would have been cutting it fine signing on to make the interview then it's acceptable to miss your appointment IMO
However you told them you were prepping for the interview - I don't know the in and outs but they probably can sanction you for this - stupid really as you were trying to improve you chngce of getting the job.
Hope you get the job - and then their sanction is worthlessWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Ok thanks.
Seams a bit unfair as I wouldn't of stood much chance of getting the job if I rushed to sign on in the morning and then had to travel 2 hours the opposite direction for the interview. But I guess thats the rules.0 -
I'd suggest writing to your local MP, and perhaps also write to the newspapers.
It's ridiculous to sanction someone in your position. It's far better to have time to prepare for an interview - and also not have to rush to the interview and arrive stressed (and you would also run the risk of being late if there were any unexpected transport problems).0 -
Have you shown the letter with date and time of interview, and the postage to show when you got it?
How much between the sign on and interview and how long to travel from one to the other?0 -
How did the interview go? Any chance of it being successful? Hope so - then your decision not to sign on would be completely vindicated.0

Unfortunately it didn't go well, but we'll see.
I have forwarded the email.
They were two hours apart door to door. But I did want to get there an hour in advance as I didn't know the town the interview is in and the buses are every half an hour. The extra hour to read up was very useful.0 -
My friend had an interview the same morning as they signed on and they phoned the job centre. They said that he had up to five days to sign on and it was noted on the system. He went the next day and just had to show proof of the interview.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

To be honest with you, you don't stand much chance of securing a well paid job if you don't know the difference between have and of0 -
Rule 101:
Don't arrange interviews which conflict with JC+ signing & appointments.0
