Pool Closure in Las Vegas Hotel

At risk of stating the obvious, you can use Google Maps/StreetView to see the route and photographs of how to get from hotel A to hotel B."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0

I had this exact same complaint with Virgin in 2012 re Florida. They took our booking, then notified us at short notice that the pool at our chosen hotel would be closed (due to US disability laws changing they had to refurb the pools at short notice). They refused to move us to another hotel. In the end they did, but it wasn't until we escalated the problem way beyond the customer service centre.
If you need an email address of the customer services director, drop me a PM.
I have to say once it was escalated, the problem was dealt with amazingly quickly and satisfactorily. However, getting beyond the dolts who worked in the Customer Service centre was very difficult, it was definitely a case of "computer says noooooo" to everything. They work from scripts and can't deviate!0 -
Hope the OP returns and lets us know which hotel.
Maybe 2010 is right, maybe not0 -
Yes I`ve been to Las Vegas.
Every hotel`s got a pool except the one the OP is going to, they also have casinos.
Just go to the next hotel and use their facilities.
VH have made arrangements for the use of an alternative pool.
There`s really not much else Sharon can do.
the hotels I've stayed at in Vegas on the strip require a key card for pool access, the ones off have required a key card for towels.
Depends where the OP is staying.0 -

agree and those that are open to the public normally charge a fee.
2010 - my point was that it is not necessarily "around the corner"...even if they do have approval to use an alternate pool...to get from a room at one hotel to the pool at another could be quite a significant trek or might be pretty easy and might change the OP's perception of the situation...and since the OP's question was 'any suggestions what to do' - if we knew what the hotels involved were we could give a more specific reply.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
hi sorry i thought i had put the name of the hotel its The Quad hotel and casino we booked this in December and like i said know we did not tick any box to agree to pool closure despite what a comment was from a reply to my post .
the pool offered is flamingo but this is open to general public as well as flamingo guests and now quad , we found out on the quad website and on first calling birgin customer services the man knew nothing about it
we have asked to be changed to another hotel but not willing to pay 300-400 pound ontop of the £2000 we have already paid
cheers0 -
The Quad/Flamingo won't be that big of a deal the properties are not that big and are close (unlike some other potential companions that may be next door to each other but would be quite a hike between the two) - the pool at Flamingo is much nicer anyway as I understand it.
I have no way to know what you did or did not accept (maybe without realising) but that combination is one that would not seem to be that big of an issue.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I agree with Ferf. The Flamingo is not far at all from the Quad and has a much nicer pool.
You are not missing anything with the Quad pool being closed. It is probably the worst pool on the strip, a small rectangle with bland surroundings.
However I can understand your frustration of the pool at the hotel you are staying at being closed.0 -
That means nothing. It is open to the public but they have to pay, ($25 I think) so none of the general public will be using it.the pool offered is flamingo but this is open to general public as well as flamingo guests and now quad , we found out on the quad website and on first calling birgin customer services the man knew nothing about it
You have had a lucky escape. Flamingo is much better, probably in the top 5 pools in Vegas. Quad pool is the pits.
Go ahead, ask them to move you to a hotel with a working pool, they might just do that. But be wary of what you wish for it might just come true.
I think Silver Sevens and Mardi Gras are on the list of hotels that Virgin use.:rotfl:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Thinking about it I would not be that surprised if the walk from your room at The Quad to the pool at Flamingo is shorter than the walk within some properties to their own pool.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
