I have a jam setting on my breadmaker ,which I have never used, but then I have never used my breadmaker either:o:o:o It has been sat on top of the cupboard in my kitchen for over two years Its on my famous 'To-do' list .One day when I have time on my hands I will get it down and use it,till then it just sits up there looking at me reproachfully as yet another unwanted item bought back in the days when I had more money than sense;)

Zippychick, for some reason I find the catalogues much more seductive than the shop ! Something which costs a couple of pounds in the catalogue seems 'cheaper' there than when you have to put it in your basket and pay real money. What I do is to go through the catalogue, identify the things I would like, make a list and then go and look at them in the shop. I often find that in the flesh they are not things I actually want (let alone need), so shopping in person saves me money. On the other hand I do like a good gadget (I think the avo and mango slicers are brilliant - I hardly ever eat mangoes but when I do they are efficiently sliced with none of that wrestling with the stone etc and avos are beautifully eased out of their shells to pop in salads, but yes, I KNOW we can all live without such things) I think Lakeland is a really good organisation, largely because their customer service is so good. If you buy something and it doesn't work, or you hate it they will take it back with no fuss. And then there's the Remoska which - though pricey up front - has saved me from putting on my big oven just for the 2 of us and must have saved us an immense amount on the leccy bill. Enjoy your shop visit and tell us what you couldn't resist buying ?

Well, tonight I will be crawling into bed and reading my Lakeland catalogue - having never really looked into what they sell. I had a glance yesterday and seen at least 3 types of pea cutters - WHAT? So i imagine i will be amused by the whole ca talogue!

Hoping to go to it with a friend , so will be leaving the purse at home (considering it's my first visit!)

I always love looking through the Lakeland catalogue - so I decide what I want and then go to the shop. I often find once I get there, it doesnt seem so appealing if I am honest, although their own baking trays etc are absolutely brilliant!! I have to second that lakeland customer service really is second to none, anything (and they really do mean anything) that breaks within 12 months they will refund or replace either refund :T

So in some ways I have a fantasy shop before I go but then when I get there the reality kicks in and I only tend to buy the gadgets I really will use!!

It doesn't have to be within 12 months, you can have something for years and they'll still refund or replace!

I agree their customer service is faultless.

Or here we have the 'one egg pan' - its a frying pan so small that it only hold one egg to fry - but it costs the same as a full size frying pan :rotfl:

mmmmmmmmm one of these seduced me in the local hardware shop. Yes it does fry one egg, also poaches one egg and is great for tiny pancakes and blini type things and ....er.....looks cute

A word of warning! Lakeland has changed Stack a Boxes to a new, far inferior version. I have quite a lot of "Stack a Boxes", which I have had for some years. They are brilliant, and not one has had to be thrown away, despite being through the dishwasher etc frequently. I have just purchased an additional chest freezer, so I bought some more. Now, the ones I already had are square and clear with multi coloured lids. I keep the lids in a pile as they fit any size. An excellent idea. Yesterday I found that they have now moved on to being white with all blue lids. No problem at all. But I have found out that the lids are not interchangeable between the old style and new style boxes. This may seem trivial, but to me it is a nuisance.

Also the new ones are white and I think they will soon retain food stains. And they no longer do the extremely useful small size.

I have queried this retrograde step with Lakeland and they replied "we've had to source a new supply, as the mould for the original version had worn out, so could no longer be used."

So why didn't they ensure the new supply was manufactured to the same specification as the old ones?

I have also tried to put a negative review on their website, but it has not been published because "Thanks for taking the time to write your review. Many of our customer's have chosen to write reviews about the change of design for our stack-a-boxes and therefore we are no longer able to publish any further reviews relating to the previous design. The reason behind the change is that the original mould used by our suppliers has now worn away. Although we won't be able to publish your review on the site this time, we really appreciate your feedback and your comments have been noted."

But none of the reviews for the product mention what I have said. They clearly don't want negative comments, and by their own admission have filtered out reviews about the change in design.

Tommo- I would suggest you email them and get your money back. I returned some dryer balls after eighteen months which I had used a couple of times but stopped using as they were so noisy and not effective.

So you could get your money back! Excellent customer service and no quibbles!

Thanks for that. Yes, they have offered me a refund. But I thought I would let other people who really liked this product (apparently the old style boxes were one of their top selling lines) know about the very poor replacement Lakeland have introduced.

I have been to Lakeland today and they had a sale on. I saw this but didn't buy it but now wondering if I should have (Lakeland a bit of a drive away) anyone got one?

    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/mermaid-milk-loaf-tin/F/C/cooking-baking/C/cooking-baking-bread-making/product/13144

Quite a reduction in price I thought but being MSE now think twice before buying anything, even if it is on sale (doesn't always work though ;) )
