I am shocked that you are shocked :) would you like to come and be a fly on the wall in a maths lesson with my apprentices?

Oh I know standards are slipping(have fallen down completely) as you only have to listen to the way some people talk and how they write, but my granddaughter aged 10 could have told me what 30 x 6 is.

    When I was that chap's age,the one who served me(early 20s)) I ran a business and didn't even have a calculator.

So if its not computerised and they do it from as chart then it would be very easy to syphon off 50p from each driver, bet that could add up to a tidy addition to pay. Cynical? Moi?

Warning others yes, would I have gone back for the 50p and wasted 10 minutes...no, my time is worth far more.

I wonder how much time you have spent on giving comments to this post and not getting a penny for that, seeing your time is respectfully valuable.

I think the PO's point is, the principle is wrong. If Morrisons advertises 6p off per litre, then it should be £1.80 off/cheaper/less whatever you call it on 30 litres of fuel.

And based on what has happened to the PO, Morrisons has only offered 4.33333333333333p off per litre. If that's the case, Morrisons better just says 4.33333333333333p off instead of 6p.

Perhaps the staff better give £6 off to every single customer as a standard (6p x 100 litres max), then that will save them looking at the chart all the time, and make their lives much easier after all - seeing they cannot be bothered to do their jobs properly.

Am I the only person who is astonished that the Morrison's staff have to calculate this manually and then input a discount? I'm rather gobsmacked that it isn't automatically done by the till after the coupon is scanned.

No,that is what I first posted

"I asked the one who was free why I had only been given £1.30 and not £1.80.I said surely the computerised till wasn't playing up? The other chap then looked across, and said they have a chart with all the prices on and how much 6p a litre off would come to!!!

That did shock me that it was having to be calculated and then input by the staff."

In these days of vouchers and discounts, and considering that in the store they can deduct a coupon for whatever the value, then it was a shock to me too. And,as others have pointed out, open to abuse, though it wasn't as if he had only given me £1.30 0ff but the receipt stated the 50p more.

Morrions short changed me some points the other week (about 30p worth) I called their customer service line for free took about 2 minutes and ended up with a £2 voucher so about £60 an hour. was that worth it?

It takes nearly 2 minutes to work through their telephone menus, must have been a quick call... :p

I know you're right but....was the 10 minutes of your life worth 50p?
    Did it take the op a whole 10 minutes? . . or just "a couple" of minutes . . . :)

Why doesn't a cashier know their 6 times table?
The maximum discount is 100 litres, so it's not hard..
