Apples and oranges. Unlike the return flight, the one-way flight will be booked in the most flexible booking class.0

That's how it always worked. 5 years ago when I moved to the US it was £900 for one way, £400 return. Booked the return and just used outgoing.0

And found another one for the return flight

Maybe there is only one seat left in economy but plenty of space further forward.
It's just the kind of quirk that automated booking and revenue management systems throw up. With tens of thousands of seats on sale every day these prices aren't set by a human and, as we all know, computers can sometimes go crazy. It's not always bad news as it means you can sometimes grab bargains in premium cabins.0 -

If you fancy it, you're very welcome.:D Hope this is clear:
We're going to visit friends in Phnom Penh.
OH has 2nd - 16th August for holidaying. Back at work on 18th August as not allowed more than 2 weeks off.
We don't want to spend any time more than transit in Bangkok.
We know we will be doing overland travel.
OH wants to go to Siem Riep as he hasn't been before.
Want to get to Ho Chi Min as well.
Hubby looking to leave me and kids in Ho Chi Min so we can keep going through Vietnam. Us 3 probably will come back somewhere around 26th-28th August.
Current thinking and pricing is favouring going (BKK maybe onto) Siem Riep (4 days max) - PP (no more than 5 days) - Ho Chi Min (leave hubby at airport on 16th) - Hanoi
So looking at Lon-Siem Riep all 4 of us (where you get the crazy single/return prices)
Lon - Bangkok (singles and returns)
Hanoi - Lon (singles)
Ho Chi Min - Lon (singles)
Monmodo has been very helpful with the update service on all this.
Good luck on your quest!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

It's stupid.
The BA economy flight to Bangkok is more expensive than the BA economy flight to Siem Riep which is using exactly the same plane and the same seat - the onward flight on Bangkok Airways doesn't even have economy and business on it! From when I flew it last time, it is one of those little things which is tiny and anyone over dress size 16 would have trouble squeezing up the aisle!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

It's not stupid. LHR to BKK is non-stop and more attractive to customers over various one-stop options. This allows BA to charge a premium. To Siem Reap they will be competing with a number of airline offering 1-stop options so have to price it accordingly.0

I understand the big picture you're describing, but the reality of it is that the same seat on the same plane is cheaper if you buy an onward flight than not.
As we do Asia hand luggage only, we may end up wasting a flight because of pricing, as offloading bags won't be a problem if we miss the 2nd flight. Have to play the game.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Consider the Vietnam Airlines and Angkor Air alternative.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
