Todays topic for conversation - bark chippings.

We looked at B and Q and you can get four 100 litre bags of bark chippings for £20 - I cant seem to order online though and I am dreading what the delivery charges are.

I had a look at various builders merchants but they deliver in big sacks and I cant see if they are better value or not.

We started making flower beds in the bottom paddock last summer but not really knowing what we are doing so the grass is threatening to take over again. So we are in the process of re weeding it, putting down the weed suppressing membrane and topping it off with bark chippings.
On top of which for about 9 months of the year the ground is very wet and then it bakes hard in the summer.

If I could find someone local I could trust I would let them sort it out despite the cost.

Has anyone got any views on bark chippings ???:D

I've tried all this weed suppressing membrane etc. Ended up with weeds growing on top of it :eek:

If you are planning on planting anything I would not bother with chippings, you still have to dig and you end up replacing them every year.

If you are not planning on planting anything why not get a ground cover plant? A nice heather or the suchlike will soon cover the ground and will suppress the weeds more effectively after a while. It would probably take a fair few but it would be worth it as they look lovely too.

Of course, there might be someone on here that has had more luck with chippings than we have

I've sent them an email - it will probably be ignored but it was worth a try :)

The link wasn't working for anyone. They advised me that whether you have cancelled or not you are still entitled to the coffee because the trial subscription covers us until may 12th

Just need to keep trying and hope they fix it

And the bingo is on the nectar site (100 points)

Nectar app has new bonus offers live from today. Worth checking if you buy any of the stuff they've selected

You can also earn poiints by searching via the app

Nope - no strange yeast or anything. I don't think he quite mixed in the sugar as there is a gathering of stuff underneath that looks suspiciously like sugar, he claims it is not. It is only just going, but there are still bubbles appearing on top and it is still popping away. I dread to think what it is going to be like :eek:

    Very nice I expect :D

I used to use castor sugar in making wine (only used wine kits, hope to do some BlackBerrying later this year tho) and it was such a faff getting it dissolved - now I've discovered how much easier brewing sugar is I always use that (it seems to speed up initial fermentation as well). But it's more expensive, even in wilkos (£2 but currently 25% off ;))

    Good morning everyone.

Many happy returns of the day to itsasecret66 :)

Taking DS2 back to uni today, together with homemeade flapjacks, and carrot soup.

We've discussed the difficulties getting GP appointments on the thread a few times, and the questions etc included.

I had an appointment yesterday, a new term cropped up, the receptionist advising me that my appointment was with a physician associate. Googled the term, interesting!

Hope everyone has a very good day today.
