So that's four people in the car, and not one of you even started to wonder how come you'd reached Lancaster without turning off, or how come Bradford was now south of Manchester instead of north-east, or how come you'd got to Birmingham, or how come you'd joined the M1, or how come you'd passed Northampton and were approaching Milton Keynes, or even how come you were now 350 miles into a 200 mile run?

OK, so the SatNav was on silent - but nobody looked at the screen on it?

But maybe there's an alternative bit of muppetry that'd explain it all... What town's about 30 miles north of London...? Somebody set the destination to Bedford rather than Bradford, didn't they...?

    I'm afraid not......

It is really as stupid as it sounds.

Never had a problem with NavFree on iOS and Andoird. Maps are saved to the phone's memory, so no need for a WiFi or 3G signal to stream the map data.

Just installed it now on my Experia and dl'ing the maps. so thanks for that hope its good!

Just because you don't have to OK your way through several screens of what I always assumed were utterly redundant warnings for anybody with sufficient intelligence to not short-circuit it with drool, doesn't mean those warnings wouldn't still apply... BTW, the atlas will also suffer from drool-related issues. Sorry for not forewarning you. If you send me the atlas in a usable and un-drool-soaked condition, I'll refund your £1.99. Can't say fairer than that, can I?

    A guilty conscience maybe?

I dont think your suggestion is really safe. Unless AA atlas has made a talking atlas, ill check at the local garage as soon as the police release me for dangerous driving

Sat navs are quite clearly safer to use when the car is in motion. Eyes free directional guidance.

I tend not to use a satnav at all, however, my son has moved to another city and it has a 'loop' system. I have to collect my grandson from nursery on occasions and not familiar with the inner city road system yet which is very busy. Trying to read a map is just not appropriate, putting all the jokes aside. Ive missed the turn off a few times in the city and had to drive right around the 'loop' again which is time consuming and annoying.

The satnav has enabled me to get to the nursery and back on the motorway without any issues, as soon as im confident that I know the route clearly the satnav will go back in the glove compartment.

No, but for those who do... with a sat nav it doesn't matter.
