Hello All,
I would be grateful for any advice on this, im sooooooo upset about this,
Today my wedding dress arrived with parcel force on a signed delivery only, however I was at work when it arrived and instead of taking it to a neighbor or leaving a card he just forged my signature and left my wedding dress on my doorstep.
However when I got home my dress is not there, now the dress is an older design which isnt made anymore and was ordered from a private seller so i cant just get a replacement.
I spoke to parcelforce about the cost of this item and they said that the person who sent it to me is the one who has to claim the cost of the dress back, but when I spoke to paypal who I used to pay for the dress they said that they dont have to refund me my money because the item is showing as delivered and signed for by me.......
I am not sure how I get my money back as I now need to find another dress.
parcel force say they will only refund the sender,
paypal say Ive got the dress so they dont have to refund me.
Any advice would be really great.
Im sooooooooooo angry that something so precious sent with strict instructions that it needed to be signed for, and that the parcelforce man has the cheek to sign for it himself and then dump it in my front lawn!!!
thank you

If they don't help, it pains to me to say that the only thing you can do is to take them to small claims (as long as you can prove you were at work and were not able to sign).
It seems unfair that they are the ones being made accountable, but I can't see how else you can sort this out. The seller needs to take it up with Parcelforce, and they may be prepared to do that if you contact them explaining how upset you are.0 -
Oh, I would also report the theft to the police, get a crime number and give that to the seller, as well as Paypal0
-
Legally you have no contract with Parcelforce, so their advice is correct.
You need to contact the seller; and decent seller will want to help in this situation.

Hi terra,
Its horrid, I have written to the seller and parcelforce, I have explained to parcelforce that because the employee forged my signature i have lost my right to retrieve my costs and that a more satisfactory solution be put into place.
i am lucky that today 3 minutes after I was meant to be at home signing for my dress i was some 20 miles away fueling my car, and I paid by card and have a receipt so I can at least prove it wasnt me.
the parcelforce chap told his head office that he signed the parcel receipt and that he left the item outside the house.
I was just hoping that someone somewhere would say actually you do have a leg to stand on, and this is how you stand on it
thank you for taking the time to reply, im pretty gutted today

I don't understand why you involved PayPal but haven't contacted the seller (as Parceforce correctly told you to do), and apparently had enough spare time to post on here instead. Contacting the seller is the only way you will get this resolved.
Edit: OK, I see you have written to the seller, do you not have any more urgent way of getting in touch?0 -

Hiya,
I did contact the seller, paypal ( whom I paid the seller through for security) and parcelforce, I wanted to know where I stood because right now I havent got a clue where I stand and what my rights are, I dont have another way to contact the seller until they respond to my message asking for their number.0 -
It seems you are jumping the gun a tad. Give the seller chance to respond, they may not have even seen your message yet. Did you explain in your message what has happened?0
-
Do you have proof the delivery driver forged your signature and dumped it on the lawn? I find it hard to believe.0

hiya
Yes I have given them a complete description and very politely asked them if they could help me out.
I am hoping that they come back to me soon, but I just want to find out where I stand on this as I have to now get my money back and find another dress :-(0 -

Yes I do, apart from my being 20 miles away at the time ( I was fueling my car so have a receipt to prove that 3 minutes after the dress was signed for I was 20 miles away)
the driver also told his head office he left it there, and the head office called me to say that the driver has confirmed he said he left it there, when I asked who signed the E-sign they said he did claiming it was signed left by door, however the E-sign clearly reads my name!
ironically Parcel force arnt arguing that he left it there or that he signed for it apparently its common practice!!!0
