i think most pet crems have a remembrance garden that the ashes get scattered on, so he's not been tossed away.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

thank you scaredy-cat
we had a sad day today throwing away his things ready for a new kitty as it would be unfair on them for his smell to be on his toys and his bed. the OH put all his pics on the cloud and we had a chat about our gone kitty about how much we loved him and missed him and we have now got another kitty to look after. There are so many out there looking for homes, and worse, in London, people try and get them for dog baiting :eek::eek: - no wonder charities do home checks!!
I wish we could give more of them a home but for now we have honoured my fur baby by offering a home to another. The pain remains but hopefully new kitty will help our hearts to heal. Thank you all for your kind words. It is nice to talk to people who understand what we have gone through and are still going through.

Is it too late to ask if the items have literally gone in the bin?
The reason I ask is that if anything was in good condition then I feel sure an animal charity would have been able to use it/them.
Glad to hear you have decided to give another kitten a home. there are so many needing a loving place to live.
Enjoy your new baby... hope you will post some pictures for us. (and of course you won't forget the one you just lost......)

thanks katiehound! thankfully his toys were some of the OH's old ties and some catnip in socks and his bed was a cardboard box he used to sleep in in front of the electric heater!!!! He didn't have expensive taste!!!! Very MSE!! But it was still very sad getting rid of them, - his box had his smell and his little marks made by his claws on. and his toy was a bit of elastic with a feather on the end we had stapled to the door and we didn't even keep that cause it had his smell on it
I will definitely post some pictures of him once he's comfy and a camera won't be intrusive!!
I will never forget my little kitty, don't worry.

Glad to hear you are MSE!! and that there weren't goodies that someone else could have used! It always amazes me the stuff that gets put in skips when we have countless charity shops, furniture recycling and animal charities fairly locally! Hey, but that's my soap box.
I am taking a bag of dog coats and woolly cushion covers (cat blankets) to an animal charity. I hope to get my new(rescue) hound at the end of next month and these coats are too small, but lovely for some other pouch.
Enjoy your new baby and have a lot of fun

hey katiehound! I totally agree! No posh toys for him, he craved that cardboard box over anything else and got quite put up if we sat in it instead of him!!!
We need to get some more elastic to see if new kitty will play like old kitty but he is doing well, eating food and has been purring as well, even sitting on OH's lap - he is our healing kitty!!
Thank you for the link to katie hound, I will PM you a link to our first kitty.
xx
ps - i hope all goes well with your new doggy, I hope to get a dog soon once we move from this flat - that is my inspiration to become debt free!and i have just read your link - katie sounds lovely and had such a full life in her time with you. You must be very proud of her! xx

my Giz doesn't play with toys but he loves string and chasing fingers!
i find that he sleeps in places he wants to even if there is a cat bed about!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
Just a thought cottage_retreatist - a friend of ours has cat ornaments in her garden that is in memory of each of her cats that passed away. I am still looking for one for our cat from last year.
I got to say goodbye and be there as she was pts. Though we had her cremated I want a memory of her here (though she is always in my heart).
I waited from Feb last year until early Dec to get another as she was my first soley owned cat. But as people say its an individual thing. You will know when its right.Back on the trains again!0 -
thank-you davenport151, we don't have a garden of our own but i think that is something we will do, we used to tell him stories of how he could roam the countryside when we move so it would be fitting
an update on new kitty - he is currently lying across one sofa and OH is lying on the other!!
He is not a fan of the electric heater which is sad as that is where other kitty used to spend all his time stretched out on his back with paws int he air but they are their own personalities so no more comparisons from us about him and also no more saying how we wish our old kitty was still with us although in our hearts that is still true.
he is a beautiful beast this new kitty! But he is all black not ginger so much harder to read his expressionhe is our house panther!!!
there's still a part of me that thinks only 2 kitties could replace our last one, he had such a personality but i'll give it time and see, if i feel that way a few months or so down the line we will re-evaluate but we are focusing on new kitty right now.
xx
ps - OH told me he has put kitty's time of death in his calender on his phone, so we can commemorate him in times to come, made me v sad when he told me.Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -
My thoughts are with you. It takes time and you'll have good days (when you might suddenly stop and feel guilty) and bad days.
Try to remember all the good times and the love you shared. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to grieve x0
