ParkingEye PCN-Incorrect reg. number entered

Hello all.
Been reading through the posts here relating to a PCN we received from Parking Eye. Sadly I've only just found this forum so hopefully I've not got things wrong from the start but would appreciate any advice from here on.
We received our PCN on the 14/4/14 and it was dated 10/4/14. It correctly shows our vehicle arriving and leaving a car park in Liverpool on the 6/4/14. As far as we were concerned we had paid for a ticket that covered us for the time and so initially were confused by the notice. After turning the car upside down we found the original ticket (lucky?) and it was only then that we realised the ticket machine at the car park was one you punch your registration number into and I had entered the plate incorrectly by a single character. Of the 7 characters I got the initial one wrong.
On realising my error I visited the ParkingEye appeal web page straight away, filled in the online form, scanned in the original ticket and explained that I'd made a genuine mistake in entering the plate number but had paid for the time at the car park and had a ticket to prove my error.
As explained earlier, I did not know of this forum at the time of filling in the online form so did not use any of your excellent templates nor did I admit who was the driver, more by luck than good knowledge. I merely stated that we did park there on that day and that time, admitted my error and therefore I felt the penalty was harsh as we had actually paid for our time there.
After completing the appeal form I was directed to a webpage stating that my appeal had been submitted etc. etc. but I can't remember exactly what else it said. I expected an email acknowledgement immediately but received nothing. I have since received nothing, by post nor email.
Today was the deadline for the reduced (£60) so-called penalty to be paid. Do I just sit tight and wait, expecting a decline to my appeal ready to go to stage 2? POPLA codes is it after that?
I scoured the forum here looking for a similar case to ours, i.e. incorrect plate entered but couldn't find anything similar.
The registered keeper of the car is worried and I'm doing my best to reassure that it's all in hand. Hoping you can reassure me so I can fake my confidence
Thanks in advance.

there are plenty of examples on here of incorrect reg details being entered for various parking companies, read several myself over the last 10 months
they will either cancel, ask for more info or issue a popla code
if it goes to popla, do not rely on this information being upheld as popla dont do mitigation
so you would draft a popla appeal using this as the last point but also include not a gpeol, no contract , poor signage etc too , as the main appeal points
if its a genuine mistake as you say, PE have a good record in cancellations, but dont bet on it
did you get any notices saying this appeal was being looked into ? like any emails etc ? (or letters ?)0 -
Thanks for the reply. Sorry I couldn't find similar cases on the forum. Not quite sure I fully understand "so you would draft a popla appeal using this as the last point but also include not a gpeol, no contract , poor signage etc too , as the main appeal points" I need to read more into all that clearly. Hopefully I'll get a cancellation but preparing for the more likely outcome. I'm more concerned just now with the deadline for reduced payment passing and me having no proof that I submitted an appeal. Is this normal non-response to an online appeal?
Thanks again.0 -
I would submit it again and add a scan of the ticket you found , better to be safe than sorry, that way they should check the anpr details on the day around that time and then cancel the charge
as for all the acronyms etc, all explained in the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of this forum, thought you had read it already ?0 -

I think this looks like it was the web acknowledgement:After completing the appeal form I was directed to a webpage stating that my appeal had been submitted etc. etc. but I can't remember exactly what else it said. I expected an email acknowledgement immediately but received nothing. I have since received nothing, by post nor email.0 -
No. I've received nothing by post or email so far. I've nothing to prove that I submitted an appeal the day we received the notification. I think I'll do as suggested and re-submit.

similar cases (even if not PE) , keyword used for searching was the word INCORRECT

For all their faults, Parking Eye do tend to be reasonable when presented with a case such as yours, particularly if you still have the ticket, so I am hopeful.
In addition, in all their rubbish that they send to court , a recent case had this from Jonathan Langham (one of their staff)
Subsequently, ParkingEye received the defendant's defence. The defendant reiterated that he had paid the charge, and that he had been required to enter his registration number. It should be noted that the terms and conditions state that the full and correct vehicle registration number should be entered. ParkingEye does check to ensure that we do not issue charges to motorists if it appears as though a slightly incorrect registration has been entered.
If they don't cancel your ticket, Then come back and then inform them that the extract above came from a witness statement from them in a recent court case.0 -

This looks promising. Thanks for this and everyone else's help. I'll wait a bit longer for a response. We have had a public holiday since the first submission so 14 days is actually still to come.
I've just resubmitted and at least it gave me another look at the web acknowledgement screen. Is there any way I can post a screen grab up here for any future help?0 -
only with a broken weblink to tinypic or photobucket0

Positive update!
Just received a post letter from ParkingEye.
"After investigating your appeal...blah, blah, blah...On this occasion as a gesture of goodwill we will be cancelling this Parking Charge. To prevent this situation arising in the future, please ensure the correct vehicle registration details are input."
Fair enough.
Thanks for all the help.0
