Got a parking ticket for wrong reg

Options
Dear all, wondering if you can help? Parked in the local car park run by Excel parking the other week and bought a ticket as required. Thought nothing of it and then the other half got a ticket today. It says the offence is captured on ANPR and the reason is not displaying a valid ticket.

I of course knew I had bought a ticket, found it in the car but on inspecting found that I typed my reg number in to the machine not hers (I was borrowing her car).

Any advice on what the best course of action is to take? I am annoyed because I paid for this parking and made a genuine error with the reg number because I was tired. Please help!

just appeal it in the usual manner as per the NEWBIES sticky thread, and enclose a scan of the actual ticket but keep the original ticket yourself (do not let evidence go)

add a note to the appeal saying the driver has input the wrong registration as shown on the scan of the ticket you bought, a genuine error, and ask for the invoice to be cancelled

do not admit who was driving , so just say THE DRIVER , not "I put the wrong reg no in"

ie:- admit nothing but explain it

if they refuse your appeal, use the popla code and put a proper popla appeal in using not a gpeol , no contract and bad signage etc, do not rely on this valid ticket as a defence, although you can add it to the appeal AS WELL as the above legal points

    good luck

You should also be adding that you require them to check for the other car reg that you think the driver has input in error (give the reg number). Write in a similar vein to the letter I wrote for Solomon Broad here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4856839

You should require them to check their records for that car registration because the driver (who will not be named) did pay and display but believes they put in the other car registration of the other vehicle used by them.

That link also gives you your POPLA appeal wording which will win in the end, like it did for that OP.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
