Coca Cola Rip Off

tesco has a everyday value cola thats just as nice for 17p a 2litre bottle0

The price is actually slightly less for these new bottles.
2 litre were £1.99-£2.09 and the new bottles are £1.850 -
I've had a good search on MSE and out on the wider net and I'm amazed I've been unable to find any mention of this RIP OFF.
Coca Cola are advertising pro-actively that their new family bottles are a benefit: "Happiness Is A New Bottle". But to a savvy Money Saver it's most certainly NOT.
Hasn't anyone else noticed that their new bottle is 12.5% smaller for the same price? It's 1.75l for the price of a 2l, and the 2l is being phased out.
Their press release claims it matches the classic contoured glass bottles, but couldn't they have done that shape in a 2l volume?
Can we spread the word and get a campaign rolling or shall we all just keep quiet and move to Pepsi?
They're keeping the prices the same, yet making the bottle smaller.
Other option is to raise the price by 12.5% and keep the bottle the same size.
The new bottles fit better in the door pockets of our van fleet, so my personal preference is to make the bottles slightly smaller.

I have no care for it. I'll buy whatever is cheapest per ML out of CocaCola or Pepsi. Who cares about the container it comes in."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0

Hate to say it but if you're such a savvy money saver, why on earth are you buying majorly overpriced brands such as coca cola, all the supermarkets do credible own brand alternatives nowdays, at a much smaller cost.
The only time I buy a coke is if its part of a mixer with spirits at a bar or with a fast food meal, too blumming overpriced for what it is no matter the size of the bottle (or can)0 -
I noticed it a while ago and it irritates me too.
My local supermarket is charging the same for the new 1.75L bottles as they did for the 2L ones. And now I run out of coke even faster.
I wouldn't mind if they had also changed the price to be proportionate to the new size, but noooo.
This article seems to suggest the the new 1.75L bottles are supposed to be cheaper than the 2L but I haven't seen it yet.

Because it tastes nicer
Whilst straight Pepsi is fine, it doesn't mix well with spirits IMHO..0 -
Yes, of course. That is what most normal people want.
Nope - you can't just claim this without statistical evidence!

This will go one of two ways for Coca Cola, and I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to stock 2l and maybe 2.25l but vary it by supermarket to make it more difficult to compare.
Before having kids I used to buy the best offer Coca Cola by its price per 100ml, it varies regularly, but now will only buy cans as that way they don't lose their fizz or if they do it's only a can.
Cheap colas are fine if you don't drink it often, but if you do drink particularly coca cola often everything else tastes watery. I find coke zero hard to take, don't get me started on diet coke or Pepsi.
