Indie- I've got 1 and a half black toenails at the moment, so you're winning there!

I lost one of my big ones last year, which hurt like a !!!!!. I remember one morning trying not to scream - I was trying to put my jeans on and caught the rest of the nail on my jeans.:(

It is my baby toe; so it's not as bad. I have a weird need to pull it off; but won't... I seem to remember that hurting very much.:o

  • So far I’ve lost three toenails following my 52mile run in July. Got another two (including one big toenail) that will be falling off soon. Funnily enough none of them hurt.

Maybe I should follow the lead of running legend Marshall Ulrich?
I’ve also had the same trainers for five years and they show no signs of running out and since I switched to Injinji running socks I’ve not had one blister, even after my ultramarathon last month.

I find they only hurt if I catch them on something. It does explain the pain on Saturday though - I had a lot of pain on my left foot on Saturday, had a quick look and couldn't quite work out the problem.

A quick look on Google has suggested that my blisters may have something to do with my feet getting wet. I did at some point walk through some wet grass, although it wasn't that wet. Only ever had blisters from new shoes.

I ran in the rain quite a lot in the winter, and used to get horrendous blisters - once was literally the entire sole of my foot! 2 pairs of socks helped and 1 pair and trainers caused so much rubbing.

There are Hilly Twin Skins too, which I've found work fine.

When I went out on Monday I burst into tears at the end of my run. no idea why, I was really happy, just emotional i guess, I do miss having my dog as my running partner.

Anyway, I went out again this morning, I nearly didn't but realised I had no valid reason not to, and I love it once I'm out the house, so off I went, nearly completed c25k again. It's getting colder in the mornings I've noticed!

I'm also glad I've managed to get into the habit of running after work on Monday's, as i increase my distances, I'm not going to have the luxury of fitting in all my runs before work.

I really shouldn't have put off yesterday's long run until today. I had 16 miles to do and my trainers were squelching by mile 2 or 3. Feet are in a right state now.

    Hi All,

If your new to running, I certainly recommend the local Park Run. Its free and you can Skip, Hop, Walk, Run, Job or even bring the children. Its 5k in length..and FREE... Can be found from Google.

Anyhow, no real training pattern for me. Was thinking about picking up a Great North Run place from eBay, however unsure.

No real running recently.. apart from

    3mile run thurs,
    3 mile run fri,
    9 mile run sat,
    nothing sun/mon,
tuesday treadmill run, press-ups and situps
    wednesday treadmill, press-ups and situps.

Its weird..i can run at 16-18.5 km/h on the treadmill, however can push out a 48-50min 10k on the road. I prefer road running.. :)

I do, do a sport..however I wont put it up where what I do, as people may know who I am. However it involves lots of running, similar to fell running and takes me around Europe sometimes :P

Do you all just run or do you incorporate other sports/activities into your life?

I'm trying to work out a fitness/weight loss plan and I think from previous experience running alone isn't enough, I'm trying to work out an achievable timetable to allow me to run 3 x a week and also do some more strength and cardio.
