I'll just be glad to run the whole thing! ;) Apparently it's got a long hill after 10 miles so that should make it interesting :rotfl:

Well done on the PB :T

That's brilliant Chickvic. I'm doing a HM in September. I'm stupidly slow and the furthest I've run is 9 miles so I'm just hoping they won't have packed everything away when i finally reach the finish line :rotfl:

First half marathon done. From mile 9, my hip was hurting. Couldn't pull out because the only way back to the finish / race HQ was to go the same way as I would if I was going to finish it.

Time was rather poor - 3:24; but it was so hot and I have a feeling I didn't quite eat or drink enough over the last few days.

Well done! :j At least you finished it, I know how mentally tough I found it to keep going :o do you have another half planned? I plan to eat plenty of pasta and rice before mine in October.

    Thanks. :)

Bournemouth half in October and hopefully Wimbledon Common half next July. There is one in October there too. But I am not doing 2 halfs 2 weekends in a row.

I actually did do 2 HMs in 2 weekends last year. I was meant to take it easy in the first one and race the 2nd one properly. In fact I PBed in both because I'm too competitive to hold back much, but I'm still not sure I'd recommend it, nor do it again!

I ended up walking a big chunk of the last one I did because of the unseasonal heat and dehydration. It was a learning experience. Now I can finally get a drink from those stupid water pouches some races have instead of cups or bottles.

If it was something I'd done before, or rather, ran a similar distance 2 weekends in a row, then I would do it. But I don't feel confident enough to do it.

Has anyone ever changed running clubs on the basis that they feel they're not really getting anywhere? There's 6 of us there. I've had problems with 2 of them and feel as though I'm not actually getting anywhere with my running. If I need to do a long run, I have to do it by myself, which I struggle with a lot. :(

  • What seems to be the problem?

I’ve never been a member of a running club before and am considering joining my local running club as a knee injury looks like it is going to put pay to my football career.

But I’m concerned that it will all be really serious fast runners and then me who can chug out a 1hr 40minute half-marathon and probably do a 20 minute 5k at a push!

The runners there are really slow. Gets a bit boring not doing much. And it's really bad when you're faster than one of the coaches. Although, how on earth he managed to qualify, I'd never know.
