300-500 miles sounds about right for mine, too. After that, I start to get blisters from them or a hole near the big toe. I never notice the cushioning going until I've switched to a new pair, but then the difference is huge.
I always keep 2 pairs of normal trainers on the go so that when one wears out, I've still got a pair I know I can run in and I don't have to rush out and buy a new pair immediately, at any price. At the moment, I've got 2 pairs of Asics GT 2000s - one shop bought after trying them on the treadmill, the other bought over the internet during the sales a few months later. I've also got some trail shoes.
Training's been going well this month. Nice and consistent, no niggles. Finally placing as first female in my club during some sessions and I'm feeling ready to set some new pbs.
I'm doing the City Mile race on Sunday (it's free! And chip timed! With goody bags!:T) then I've got only a month to get some longer distance work in before the Thunder Run. Might try to squeeze in a last 5k and a 10k before then too, but not as real target races. Oh, and I'm 'coaching' a friend through couch to 5k. I'm really happy that she's doing it. I hope she ends up loving running as much as I doSaving for deposit: Finished! :j

Most running shoes will last a lot longer than 500 miles, I've been running about 15 years now and this 500 mile business is a cynical con by the marketing people to get you to part with your money quicker.
The uppers will generally go much sooner than the sole. I run around 30-40 miles a week and don't replace my shoes until the uppers tear away.Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -

Yep this is completely true it is a con, so gullible people replace their running shoes earlier than they need to. They will last FAR longer than 500 miles.0 -

A very warm 10k done this morning. I went out at 5.30am and was surprised at how warm it was.

If replacing my shoes when they feel wrong and start to hurt my feet is being gullible, then I'll carry on being gullible, tyvm.
I think it would be much more accurate to say that they MIGHT last far longer than 500 miles, depending on the surfaces you run on, your gait, weight, whether or not you put them in the washing machine, wearing them day in day out versus alternating them with another pair, other activities you use them for that don't count towards your running mileage...Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
