I am a bit of a loser when it comes to running...I've only just started running outside and can just about manage a lap round my local park (which is literally outside my door, so no excuses!). I would say it's around a mile and a half...is this a laughable distance for a new runner? I could probably make it to two laps but I haven't wanted to overexert myself too much in case it puts me off! I don't have a water bottle at present really and from my experiences in the gym, this is a must! Will invest in a good one ASAP.
I only started at the weekend and I've run every day since I began. I do find myself aching but not enough to stop me running/have a huge effect on my speed and stamina.
I'm going to start timing my runs...is this a good way to mark your progress? It sounds silly but my second run felt a lot more comfortable than my first one. I'm hoping this continues!
I wouldn't refer to myself as a runner but I really enjoy running. I'm surprised how great it makes me feel and can completely understand why it's so popular!0 -

When I went for a longer run (say 10 to 12 miles) I’d go very slowly (say 9min 30second miles) and my legs wouldn’t ache as even though the run was longer, the intensity was much, much less.

It is all swings and roundabouts – I have a friend who only started running competitively last year and he has already got his 10k time down to 38 minutes!0 -
Wow, 36 minutes for a 10k is impressive! Makes me jealous, but I find times like that after only a year's competitive running inspirational, too!
I'm doing a bit of an experiment on myself at the moment. I've been running as and when I feel like it on top of a bit of boot camp for about 3 years. I wasn't making any real improvement most of the time because of very inconsistent training, but just generally enjoying it and running the occasional race. This year, I'm seeing how much progress I can make by training 3-5 per week, every week.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

Got my gait analysed today at Snow and Rock. The girl was really helpful...I feel bad not buying the trainers now
Apparently I have slight over pronation, more so in my left foot, and need medium support. After trying a few different pairs, she suggested these:

I didn't buy (they cost £75!) so I thought I would shop around first. They can be found cheaper online, but they don't seem to have my size (6.5) whenever I find them :-(
Anyone know how good these are? Will I get my money's worth from them? I don't mind paying £75 if they're worth it.0
