Hi all
I have booked to run the sheffield 10k in september - started training on sunday, and have my 2nd session today.:j
I have started off with the couch to 5k , and then plan to start another programme once i can comfortably run 5k.. Hoping that 4 months will be long enough to train

That has come around quick!
Racing tomorrow and then again Saturday. And then that's it for 2 weeks racing wise. I will then be camping for 2 nights and running around a field in Reading.:rotfl:Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Ran 10K in 53 minutes on the treadmill this morning and did about 20 minutes on the multigymn so that will set me nicely up for the day. I can get some guilt free nibbles for the footy later.0

Get your gait analysed. We're all different and what works for me, won't work for you. And ignore the brand.
Have done just over 50% of my target for kilometers so far this year.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I was just wondering how long do a pair of running shoes last? Do you judge it by distance? I've had mine since the end of December and jog/run 4 times a week and usually do 25k a week. Do they suddenly deteriorate or will I notice it before any major problems?0

I bought mine about five years ago and they are still going strong, been running 100k a week of late and they seem to be holding up fine.0

i have often seen 300-500 miles or 6 months suggested but it depends on the shoe, your running style whether you routinely get them wet then dry them on radiators (apparently not good etc)
i have read reviews of some shoes where people complain they didn't get 300 miles other people might get 5+ years!
to my mind the only way to tell would be to compare to a new running shoe and see if you feel a difference
a lot of people introduce a new pair when they think the old pair is on the way out, that allows you to compare the two
if the old pair isn't that bad keep using them until they feel rubbish compared to your new pair0 -
I find I need new shoes when the cushioning starts to go. Also, if you look at the sole, it starts wearing away after a while, which si normally time to start considering replacing them.
I can generally only get 200-250 miles out of mine. I just hope my current two pairs last a bit longer.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
