I think they were the ones I had. They were awful. They lasted me less than 200 miles. I will have to check - I may have had the GT-2000s.

Oh no :( I was afraid they might not last very long! They were actually nearly £100, but in the sale. I tried some other brands (Nike and I can't remember the other one) but after trying them all the shop assistant said asics would be the best for me.

I have the 2150s, which are fine.

I'm going to go to Sports Direct tomorrow, my mum got her trainers from there. They have a running specific section now. Hopefully they can advise me on some something cheaper :) I just don't want to fork out say £40 on a "cheap" pair to then end up having to buy the expensive pair anyway!

Whilst their selection of running shoes is better, they're not that well equipped, in my experience, to offer advice like that.

i agree with indie - the staff in somewhere like sportsdirect are as a rule likely to be considerably less well placed to advise on the right footwear versus a specialist running shop

i'd suggest go to a couple of running specific shops but be upfront & tell them you have a budget - some shops have models from previous seasons etc. available which can be more reasonably priced

I've been sold last seasons shoes a few times. There's normally very little difference between current and last seasons.

I see no point spending another £20 odd just for a different colour or very little difference. Especially if the cheaper ones work well for me.

I went to Sports Direct today, but had no luck. They have a really good section called "She runs, he runs" which has a machine for you to stand on to show what foot arch you have, then all the trainers are labelled accordingly. The shop assistants were quite helpful too. In the end I went to DW Fitness and got a pair of Adidas trainers with support for £49.99 :) They had all the treadmill and video equipment etc to test your running, but I knew what I needed so didn't bother with it. The sales assistants were next to useless though! Hopefully these trainers do the trick!

Do you have a Sweatshop near you? That's where I go now.

We have Sports Direct, DW Fitness and JD Sports locally.

I've been letting my training for Race for Life 5K slip this last week :( I'm planning on going to the gym and using the treadmill to train.

I found this training plan (have made myself a spreadsheet of it):

    http://running.about.com/od/5kracetrainingschedules/a/Train-For-A-5k-In-One-Month.htm

As long as I keep motivated I hope I'll be ok! I signed up for the 5k a few months back and now it's crept up on me
