Ran my first 10k trail race in 81 mins, really pleased with the time, my previous best in practice was 85 mins and the race on sunday was twice the elevation :)

Well done Glad... trail races are so much better than road races :)

Anyone else got their place for London marathon next year?
I got confirmation of mine yesterday (Good for age place)

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, how far under the GFA time had you run? Interested to find out, given that GFA doesn't guarantee an entry any more.

@Glad, congratulations on your 10k, great to see someone pushing themselves and hitting new PBs :T

I'm running my local half marathon on Sunday, they sent out the pre-race e-mail yesterday and it mentioned that there will be 90 minute pacers this year :D I think last year the fastest pacers were for 1h40. All of my training has been geared to running a sub-90, and I ran 3 miles of a 7+ mile run yesterday at 6:45/mile (the other 4 miles were warm-up and cool down). It didn't feel too bad, so I'm hoping a rest day tomorrow and some race-day adrenaline will see me to a good time.
I'll probably stick with the pacers for the first few miles if I can, before deciding whether to push on ahead of them. I know from last year I'll need to conserve some energy for a climb in the 12th mile, but then the 13th is back downhill for a fast finish.

Sadly I didn't get to run due to being ill, but I went along to support. Next race is a half marathon next Sunday

I was well under so I was never worried about the entry. In saying that I don't know anyone who applied that didn't get it. That may change next year though as a lot of people did spring marathons aiming for the old times, I do know a lot of people that missed out because of that. But next year they will mostly make it in knowing that they need the extra time. For myself my aim was always for sub 3 rather than my actual good for age time which is higher than that.

Good luck with your half, I am doing one but I haven't really got the training in for it so I like you am just aiming for sub 90, but if its looking good may try and push on for a 1:25 but I will have to be feeling good to go that speed.

    How did you get on?

I was a bit dubious about being able to maintain the pace for a sub 90 but the conditions were pretty good. We had a 1:30 pacer and I stayed with him for about a mile, it was getting a bit too crowded for my liking so I pulled out of the group and just did my own thing. Tagged onto a couple of runners ahead, but they faded about 3 miles in, so I tagged onto some runners from a local club. They faded around 7 miles and I was basically solo (apart from a couple of runners that I passed comfortably) from there until I caught another runner going uphill in the 12th mile. We exchanged pleasantries but I couldn't stay with him on the flat or downhill in mile 13. Crossed the line in 1:27:55, which I was really pleased with. :j

This is the most I can remember aching after a half though, I've been feeling sore in a few places for about a month anyway but my quads and calves are feeling it today! I'm going to take this as a chance for a couple of days off running before re-grouping for a shot at a sub-40 10k later in the year.

Well done Spiky that's a great result.
If you can run that pace then you should easily be able to do sub 40 10k.
When I said next Sunday I meant a week on Sunday, so I am racing this weekend. tbh when I was doing my marathon training I ran a couple of halfs during that in around 1:26-27 so I should be able to run that in a race!

I also aim to slot in a 10k at the end of October to try and have a shot at sub 37, but its not a flat course and I only managed 37:52 there last year. But if its not windy this year then I may have a shot.
