Wow the good for age standards have got a lot easier than in the 90s when I was running a lot.
I only did my local marathon ( Potteries ) and was always hot as well as very hilly when I ran it. Most of the guys I trained with could get the qualifying time which was sub 2.40 for under 40s runners.
The best I did was 2.51 but reckon I could of done sub 2.45 on a easier course.
Just started running again and only a few years off retiring so might consider running somewhere to get a GFA time:)
My work hours are reducing soon so confident I could do sub 3.45 by next year or sub 4 the year after when I hit 65.0 -

As I was told when I thought about doing London, if you want to do it go and put some training in because the GFA standards are not out of reach for most people.
The womens ones are even easier, if I remember correctly they are only 50% age grade. I am sure they will get adjusted down if more people decide to try for them, I don't know any women who tried to run the GFA that didn't manage to run the time.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Non-runner since January due to an unknown injury that has been narrowed down to tendonitis...
Larger shoes on order as I suspect I am wearing too small, and will be using a different lacing technique, ice and ibuprofen, ease back in etc. Oh and foam rolling and calf stretches to make sure they aren't too tight and affecting my running!
If anyone else has any tips please feel free to throw them my way0 -

Eccentric heel dips and single leg squats really helped me too.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Probably should have clarified - extensor tendonitis
don't know if that makes a difference

Sorry I am so use to dealing with Achilies injuries.... however,
Personally I'd still recommend; as anything that can be done to help tight calves and strengthen them has to be good for you.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
