course he can read. Ive told him i'll try and get his money back, that's why ive come on here.

So he thinks he can have his cake and eat it as well. He needs a slap. By the way been there, done that as you can see by the massive amount of money I owe.

Doesn't EVERYONE know that when you want legal advice you should ask a, arm, conservatory salesman? I'm astounded sometimes by the ignorance displayed by some posters. Not only astounded but also disgusted.

I get all my legal advice from the local village idiot. So far I know everything about the "Trading Standards Act 1974" and the fact that it you are blind drunk you cannot be held responsible for your own actions but it is all the pubs fault

My son is 16 and had a part time job. He gets paid weekly and because of the easter holidays he earned quite a bit of extra dosh.

On Saturday after he finished and had received his money, he went to the pub where he spent all of the money he had worked really hard for on alcohol and in the fruit machines. He came home Saturday night about 9 o clock and he wasn't hammered, however you could smell that he had a couple of pints.

Now im really really fuming that he has spent all his money , roughly 80 quid in the fruit machine. Ive complained to the pub but keep getting brushed off. Where do I stand in reagrds to the owners of the fruit machines? There is a sign on it saying "Not fir use by anyone under 18" - Can I make a claim against them to get his money back?

This just seems really unfair that he worked so hard for his money.

    Any help really appreciated.

I'd be more concerned that a pub sold alcohol to my 16 year old than that they allowed him to play on a fruit machine. smiley-rolleyes008.gif

Not only is that irresponsible but I believe it's against the law.....

Got no problem with son going to pub, stops him hanging around on the street drinking. Just fuming he was allowed to use the machine when he wasn't old enough to

I find your attitude very strange.

You're happy for your son to go to the pub and drink (rather than drinking on the streets) but are 'fuming' because he played on a fruit machine?
Which you do you think will have more impact on his health?
  • OP what you need to do is stop putting the toffee apples into the stachell and send son off to school so he can learn to read and understand numbers.

If he has already left school, you should sue the teachers, becasue they failed to prepare him for the ordinairy worls.

PS, I worked in Browns Arcade in Cleethorpes aged 14, when I understood, quite clearly from the proprietor, that whatever happens, the punter should enjoy losing their money!

Yes, better to keep it accurate, once KrissKross has finished her boycott protest of the local Shell station she needs to be sure to have the exact facts for the offence of allowing an underage person using fake ID to be allowed to play fruit machines.

KrissKross, have you considered having placards made and forming a protest line outside the pub entrance? The Fruit Machine Act of 1824 allows concerned parents to stand in the pub doorway and prevent customers entering until the landlord returns double the loss if the player was underage. Give it a go :j.

no because he has an id showing he is old enough.if the pub had asked and seen this then I wouldn't be as fuming as I am now because it woud have been his own fault.

So you are happy to allow your son to illegally buy alcohol and commit fraud offences by having/using false identification but have a problem with him using a fruit machine?

You are either incredibly stupid and a terrible parent or a troll. I really hope you are a troll and your 'son' is a figment of your trollish imagination because I despair at the thought of you actually being a parent.
