Unprofessional?

Had my routine mammogram yesterday.
I've always been cursed with big boobs, as have most of the women on my mother's side of the family. I hate them but was taken aback by a remark made by the radiologist.
"Have you ever considered a reduction?" she asked as she positioned me for the scan. I told her I wouldn't want cosmetic surgery and had just learned to put up with them. I felt a bit upset and humiliated though.
When I told a friend who works at a hospital what had been said she was amazed and said it was totally unprofessional of the radiologist to have said this.
I won't complain or anything but would have been happier if she'd just done her job and kept the personal comments out of it.
Was her remark unprofessional or do I need to get over myself?:(

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
Zaks mum, did you comment first or did she? If you used words like 'cursed with big boobs' and she commented in responce it might have felt like offering you an option you might not have considered possible for you, so validating your feelings of 'cursed' or discomfort.
If it was suggested out of the blue and you are not suffering discomfort then, yes, I think it has potential to, and clearly has, caused discomfort.
I hope you feel ok about your boobs today and that your mammogram is clear.0 -
As lostinrates has just said. x0

As a nurse I can say she had no right commenting at all!!
Had you said to her something along the lines of `My breasts are too large and I`m not happy` then maybe BUT to comment like that is not professional and unnecessary!
I hope she don`t comment on those who aren`t as big breasted or misshaped!!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Personally, no, I do not think it was unprofessional.
You are upset by the comments but the woman did not intend to upset you.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -

Not if she was thinking of you back/ health but very if she sort of recoiled... I presume she meant healthwise because I doubt she'd say ever considered a boob job to a smaller breasted woman.0

How big are they, OP? I'm a JJ-K cup (another family of big-boobers) and if anyone ever commented in that sort of situation I'd probably knock them out with one.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

Similar situation that left me wondering the same thing - I have no stomach following surgery and am reliant on a feeding tube into my bowel for all nutrition. I am always underweight. On one occasion, one of the nurses said to me "I'd do anything to be as thin as you"............really??????
Insensitive and unprofessional - I really feel for you x0
