    Hi Diary (and avid readers)

Garage called today and told me the news...it failed the MOT! Break hoses and fuel pipe (well, TECHNICALLY it was just the brake hoses - the fuel pipe gave up the ghost just prior the MOT and needed doing anyway). So the total for that lot....just shy of £600 (that includes the MOT test too). Also some advisories, so have asked them to do the cheaper ones, taking the whole cost upto £750! Still, just as well I had saved some money. Next year will be expensive as the front brakes need doing, as well as cam belts and such, so will probably cost me my kidneys - so best I start getting healthy so that I can get a good price for them huh.

Also, managed to get a HDMI cable so the new DVD player can be used....not actually managed to watch a film yet, been having a sort out round the house. Am trying to get my spark back and re-energise my MSE-ness, so if anyone has some spare gumption they can throw my way, it would be much appreciated :D

    Hey DM,

Bad times re: the car...why do they have to be so expensive! Worth it tho :)

Glad you've got DVD watching potential again. Hope you get time to actually watch something!

Attempting to send gumption.... not sure there is all that much over here but you're welcome to share what we do have :) x

    Hi Diary,
After their initial date of 15th August, I get a call on Thursday saying the car has been repaired and will be having the MOT retest on Friday 8th, so it's now done, fit for another year! :jAlthough there is quite a large bill awaiting me next year, but that's older cars for you

Whilst putting the paperwork away, it transpires that our primary motor requires an MOT too  So that's in for Thursday 14th.
Money wise, everything is in the black, which reminds me, I need to update my signature with current details.

Right, need breakfast and then I'll tackle the lovely job that is clipping the dogs nails, and hopefully later I'll be able to update my signature.

Hoping you are all having a great (and relatively dry) weekend

    Hi Diary,
Well, primary car passed its MOT, had a couple of advisories on there which need to be planned in for the next couple of months, but it passed, which is a relief.
Also, decided to bite the bullet and start proceedings to change my bank account, the higher amount offered proved too tempting to pass by, so have gone for it. I have some trepidations that something will get missed, but for now, I will have to take their word that everything will be swapped over. I will make sure I pay the CC to cover the potential for the failure, but, all being well, I will a little better off afterwards.

    Hi diary,
It looks like my lost desire to be debt free has re-surfaced again from its hiding place (probably hiding away in a drawer waiting for the dreaded August bills to pass by).

Well, apart from having to order some heating oil, all bills have been paid and the bank account is in the black (hooray).
Soooo, now my wanting to clear my debts has resurfaced and it's time to get back at it.

This week will be sorting out and finding stuff to get rid of. I have already earmarked a couple of items, so will be making a few calls/e-mails this week to see whether I have an opportunity to sell them privately first...

    Look out debts...I'm Baaaaack!

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the support Gib, it means a lot.:)

I've updated my signature to reflect the new balance on my CC, it's not as much as I thought (down from my estimated £1400 to 1387.26...small reduction, but hey, it's going in the right direction). And today I have made a payment of 50.26 to bring it down further still.

I have also added the loan I have from FiL, as it's about time that I made progress with this. With his agreement I stopped payments last year so that I could get my other finances sorted, and now that I have sorted one CC out, its about time I got on with it now.

so now debt, be prepared to kiss your proverbials goodbye:rotfl:

    Hi there avid readers,

Not much to report thus far, my bank account switch is progressing, I have my new bank card and account number and my (current) bank account is showing that I am in the black for this month (that must be at least three months in a row...wahoo).

I have been looking at stuff to sell around the house and found some bits purchased from when I was self employed, contacted an old acquaintance and he has offered me £100 for it, which despite it being 6 years old, I thought was a good deal. After refunding myself the postage it should leave £75, so that will be going to the debt mountain....

This weekend will probably be more looking around to see what's worth selling, or just going to charity. A few more £'s would be nice, but we will see.

Hope you all have a great weekend
