Hi Diary (and it's associated readers)
Well, the boiler is finally fixed, after an initial callout where it was suspected a faulty valve motor was the issue, the hot water/heating situation reversed, so another visit and now we have it rectified - the flow switch was furred up so couldn't move properly - so will be hit with two engineer visits! Have received one bill through @£100, awaiting the bill for the second icon9.gif

Dog No. 1 had another seizure on Friday, we have absolutely no idea what is causing them, even the vet is stumped. It's so upsetting watching it and there's nothing we can do to help him, yet 2 days later, he's bouncing round like a puppy! icon5.gif

Have been looking at the CC's website to see how long I need to wait for news on my PPI claim, it says they will confirm the claim request within 8 working days....not yet they haven't! So that may be worth a call next week to chase them up!

Other than that, I am in the black. It's pay day on Friday (hooray) and then the bills hit (boo), but on a lighter note, checking my nodd!e report, I see the outstanding balance on my mortgage has gone down by £200....nice, now if only they would start reducing my payments.

I have also managed to blag a weekend away to my home town to catch up with family and friends, it's been over a year since I was there! Also, I have arranged a few cheeky dives at a local dive centre near there with some dive friends, so that will be great, OK, the water will be less than 20 degrees, but I will be getting wet again. The only cost to me is petrol and dive site entry (£10), am really REALLY looking forward to that.

Oh well, it's DIY weekend, so really should make a start, hope you all have a great weekend :)

    Hi Diaryland,
Two items of note this week....Checked the price of poorly poochs' medication, from the vet: £150 per month...from the pharmacy £79 (£12 for the private prescription and £67 for the medication). So that's a significant reduction, although it would be better if he wasn't ill at all, but have discussed the possibilities with the vet and he says we may never know what causes his seizures and to investigate would cost me a couple of limbs and maybe some body parts.

Also, Mrs DM was called to see a specialist yesterday and has been booked in for a 'look see' operation in a couple of weeks (right in the middle of our week off). Hopefully it will be all OK, or alternatively it could all go pear shaped. Have to discuss the situation with my boss on Monday as this could have implications on the number of hours at work (and of course my DFW plans) but 1st priority is Mrs DM.

OK, a day in the garden building a wall...should be fun!

    Hello Hello,
I have been MIA for a few weeks whilst trying to sort things out at home and stuff.
Been checking my bank account and at the end of May, I hadn't gone into my overdraft...Go me! All the tips I have been picking up on here have helped me reduce my outgoings enough to stop that. That should be the same for June too (will report what happens at the end of the month) However, July will be a different matter as that's when the car MOT's are due.
My debts are starting to decrease, (reminder - need to update my signature) and my emergency fund (perhaps this should read 'Car paying fund' is looking like I will cope with all but the worst situations) so things are on the up, slowly and steadily.
Have a week off this week too, so have been tasked with getting stuff done in the garden and general DIY stuff, so it's going to be a busy week.

    Hello Diary,
I dunno, nothing for ages then two posts in a day :D
So, have been looking at my CC balances and noticed that my CC2 0% offer is up in August, so am going to investigate doing balance swops between the two cards, that way both debts are on 0% and I can tackle them with equal gusto.
I have an added incentive now as Mrs DM would love to go away for our 5th wedding anniversary next year, and I have also been looking at videos of my friends' latest visit to a famous set of islands in the Pacific....at a hefty price of around £5k, its a journey of a lifetime, so time to get those debts spanked and start the saving!
Oh, and I received a letter from CC1 company regarding PPI, they said that their investigation is taking longer than expected, so I will be informed of their decision by 10 July....I am taking this as a good sign....

    Afternoon Diary (and dutiful readers)
So, been thinking about what to do with these debts seeing that I have a claim coming in from the CC company.
So, at the moment, I am planning on paying off the CC that's charging interest for definite. The card which is interest free runs out at the start of august, so I'll then transfer that over on a 0% offer, for as long as possible.
Mrs DM has asked for some work to be completed in the garden, (some new sleepers and landscaping) which I can do, but need to buy the sleepers and fixings, so that's going to be done too. That way, we'll be able to spend time just lazing in the garden (and I'll be able to clock some NSDs).
The remaining money will go into my (presently small) emergency fund as I am always draining it before it gets anywhere near sufficient.
So debts, you'll be significantly reduced and I'll have a greater peace of mind, which is a win win for me....
So plan of action for next few weeks...recheck my expenditure, then re-calculate my SOA and payment options.
    More soon

    Hi Diary,
The cheque from the CC company has arrived, unfortunately the postie delivered it at 11:45, so no time to get it to the bank
So, after work on Monday, that cheque is going to be hitting my account, so by Friday I'll be paying off debts:j

I seem to have lost my way a bit from when I first started my journey, my intentions of earning more money and paying debts off seems to have dropped off a bit. The debt total is dropping (and on a good note - not increasing) Also I seem to have been subconsciously saving money things as I have been in the black for two months now, so not all bad.

So, this month we have both cars in for MOT, tax and insurance, the tax and insurance is accounted for, although the MOT's may be something completely different...

    Hey DM,
Great news about the cheque but how annoying that it was delayed!
It doesn't seem like you've lost your way at all - being in the black is brilliant :)
How are doggy and Mrs DM? Good I hope x
