Hiya Giblet,
I wish I had better news.....It's with sad regret that doggy was put to sleep on Sunday morning:( . He had a long (and I mean really long) seizure that despite a large amount of medication, he wouldn't come out from. We decided that it was better to give him the dignity of a peaceful departure rather than prolonging the agony, so needless to say we are both devastated by his departure.
Can't really type too much about it, it's too upsetting at the moment

Hey there Giblet,
Thank you for your kind words.
No upset caused, just still raw what with sitting with him and despite giving him medication, ice packs (to help try to control his body temp), it was the feeling of being completely helpless, trying to do things to alleviate his pain and stop the turmoil, then realising that this was probably be the final time with him
It's strange how things go...last year, I assisted our youngest doggy with her birth of three lovely pups (having to manually pull the last (and biggest) pup), almost a year later I was assisting the vet with helping the eldest depart for a calmer place...life huh!I feel like a Pelican - everywhere I look there's a bill staring at me!LBM: March 2014 Current CC debt: £2048.29/£3666.53 (55.86% repaid) Current Challenges:Tilly Tidy: £2087.67/£2500 (83.50%) 3 to 6 month emergency fund #75: £3653.62/£6000 (60.89%)0 -
Hi Diary,
Onwards and upwards! The cheque arrived from the CC company with my PPI claim (Did I mention this before??) Cheque has now cleared and CC1 is paid off :j:j
CC2 is just on the run down towards the end of it's interest free period, so will get that transferred onto a new 0% offer, will then calculate the repayments required to get it cleared, and I think that will be my target debt free date.
I have decided that the remainder of the PPI money will go into my emergency fund. We have jobs that are needed on the house (decorating mostly) but I can sense that other bits will pop up, so this way I can rest a bit, knowing that I can afford all but the worst of disasters.....Not only that, it's our 5 year anniversary next year and OH wants to do something special...I wonder what that means??????
Hope everyone is well

Hi Diary (and readers/lurkers),
Time for more waffle......
Another week has passed, got bill through from vet and also had one of the pumps failed in our fish tank! Grrrrrrr
In one respect, it was lucky it was the smaller of the two, so that's £28.00 for a replacement. If the new one lasts as long as the old one, then I will be happy (it has been 6 years since it was purchased - and speak of the devil, it's just arrived).
It's going to be an expensive few weeks, have two cars for MOT's and insurance, all due in the middle of August, so have been making sure I have monies available to pay these, so minimum payments have been made on remaining CC card (and have updated siggie to capture this).
So, as of August, I'll be back at the challenges, again, I have been doing the 20p pot, counted that yesterday and it's nearly £20! That has soon added up.
Right, gotta fit this pump and make the fishes happy.
More later

Hey DM,
Great news about CC1 - how fab to see that gone, and with a great plan for being completely debt free.
Cars and houses are expensive aren't they!
As for anniversary, I don't know your OH, but I wonder if 'time away' may be on the cards???? xDebt remaining:

Hi Gib,
My OH is a sun worshipper, so wants away for some sun, sand and paddles in the sea...whereas I like diving and am not a big sun lover, so we get the best of both in some respects, I get great diving in warm water, and OH gets the sun lounger.
I tried pricing it up myself as a DIY holiday, then contacted a friend who works for a holidays specialist and we have booked a trip to Maur itius (all inclusive), he got us a better deal than I could get, so deposit is paid and we are away next year. (I can hear the more evolved MSE'rs saying nooooooo already as I type
)
On the plus side, OH will be contributing too, so through regular payments, we'll be paying for it in full and no addition to debts. Of course I'll have to add some extra monies in for my diving (would be rude not to have a few excursions below the sea whilst I am there) so it'll be back at the challenges. On a plus side, I might be able to get some OT from work as we have one on suspension at the moment and I seem to be picking all his work up....will have to chase this up next week and see what I can negotiate.
Holiday...holiday....oops....don't want to peak too early :jI feel like a Pelican - everywhere I look there's a bill staring at me!LBM: March 2014 Current CC debt: £2048.29/£3666.53 (55.86% repaid) Current Challenges:Tilly Tidy: £2087.67/£2500 (83.50%) 3 to 6 month emergency fund #75: £3653.62/£6000 (60.89%)0 -
That holiday sounds brilliant and very mse to me
it has been carefully considered, a great deal obtained and you're saving to pay for the majority. What more can be asked for. I would write more but I'm on my phone and it's driving me mad trying to type lol. My dh is sleeping off the effects of a days drinking at a memorial so I don't want to disturb him with the laptop poor love

OK, so have added the holiday saving fund to my signature, so it gives me added impetus to make sure its paid off (not that OH is gonna let me forget it :rotfl:)
Will keep you all updated with my progress

Hello Diary,
Another week has gone by, and a chance to look at positives and negatives:
Negatives:
My car decided to play up this week, a poxy relay that gave up the ghost, so cue another one from the dealer (at £65)
Had to do a 30 mile trip to get a longer drill bit to pre drill the wood for the retaining wall....grrrrr
Positives:
Pay day this week
Bank account in the black
Retaining wall built and finished
On the whole, things are looking up....I feel like a Pelican - everywhere I look there's a bill staring at me!LBM: March 2014 Current CC debt: £2048.29/£3666.53 (55.86% repaid) Current Challenges:Tilly Tidy: £2087.67/£2500 (83.50%) 3 to 6 month emergency fund #75: £3653.62/£6000 (60.89%)0
