Thanks Dragonette. It is pathetic though, strip washes will not cut it any longer I really need to wash my hair (last time I got out the shower and my eye had drooped tho) stop being a scaredy cat.

Thanks, going to attempt sleep it's fairly quiet upstairs I need to grab sleeping opportunity while I can.

Lurker alert ... when I did my shoulder in a few years ago I tried getting DH to wash my hair for me, and it was pretty disastrous. Then I decided to go to the hairdressers and get it washed there - MUCH better. Lean back, gentle flow of water, nice clean hair. They gave me a special rate too (I think they felt sorry for me ...)

Once I was allowed to take my arm out of its sling and get in the shower, I always had him help me in and out (we have an over the bath shower), and he was much better at the hairwashing in that situation than leaning over the bath or sink.

    Good idea thank you.

Scared that the pressure will set it off again.

I do know strokes aren't caused by pressure on your scalp normally, but currently logic is not really working.

Am going to need to be helped in and out the shower I get wobbly when it's like this.

    .

Good idea, but I wouldn't really recommend it to someone with a health history like melly's tbh.

Leaning back in those little sinks where they wash your hair has been known (very rarely, but it is a risk) to cause strokes. Something to do with the angle your neck is at, and it pushing on an artery or something?

Just thought I'd mention it, as I would want you to potentionaly make your current situation any worse Melly.

Thanks Georgie, I didn't know that. Going to have to be a brave girl.

The leaning back into the sinks and strokes is due to a circular part of the blood circulation at the back of the neck. In a small percentage of people, the circle isn't complete so tilting the head backto an extreme angle and putting pressure on it can increase the risk of stroke.

Washing it at home, leaning forwards, wouldn't have that particular risk factor.

Hope you feel better soon, Melly. I was recommended to have something to sit on while in the shower, would that maybe be an option?

Sends lots of hugs and soothing vibes. Hmm, my local council's social work dept have an advocacy service, was wondering if your council might have something similar? I know they would be representing you against another part of the council - but it may be an option.
