It's also not enough of a warning that they don't accept milk bottle tops as payment for fuel but anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know what the sign actually means.

You didn't read the sign before you dispensed the fuel anyway, so it wouldn't have made any difference what it said.

Your fault, you didn't read the sign. And rather than admit you made a mistake you throw a hissy fit on the poor sales assistant who was probably having a bad enough day as it was, then you make an even bigger fool of yourself on here. Well done.

not my fault if the sign was illegal anyway. i am looking into this furtier.

If it was gold-plated and bejewelled would you have bothered to read it before you dispensed your fuel?

Why? There's no harm done (other than to your pride). Move on, you're making a show of yourself.

    Really?

So when do you intend reporting Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, and every other retailer in the country?

Have you told all their managers they need to have these giant signs at every till?

Please go get a life was it really that bad and am sure everyone on here would say it to your face too I know I would. It was not their fault that they could not take card at least they had a cashpoint. You don't mention how rude you probably were to the shop assistant so you probably got back what you gave!!!!!! There are more pressing things going on in this life than getting wound up over walking a few feet to the cashpoint!!!!!!!!!

well thankyou for your oh so sarcastic responses. bet you think your so big behind the computer screen well how about you come say it to my face. shell were rude to an elderly lady, didnt help that the worker barely spoke english.

You can barely write in English, so you are on an equal level to the shop assistant.

And he was rude to an old lady? How? By pointing out by saying 'no credit cards' he was also including debit cards, your own version makes you sound very rude in response 'we are paying by DEBIT card' implies you were being rude. Anyway, it doesn't matter how old she is. He said the card payment systems were down. A normal person would not think that a card system would be able to process credit and not debit, thats not normal. Fair enough ask the question, but don't get huffy in response, which you appear to have done.

'He said there were signs. We said there were not' Well you were wrong.

The A4 sign was no doubt covering the bit that said they did USUALLY accept cards. Things break. Get over it.

Do you and your elderly lady have anything better to do with your time?

The only thing better than the original posting is the concept of taking legal advice from someone who sells conservatories! There is no such law requiring a list of payment methods at the point of purchase. However please do take this further - with the abolition of legal aid some solicitors are struggling for work so will be glad to take some cash off you to tell you, that you are barking up the wrong forest let alone tree!
