If the government listened to my occasional rants and implemented a minimum IQ for road users, sh!te like this wouldn't happen...0

Did the cash machine charge for withdrawals? (Many do at filling stations).0

Very few Shell branded stations are run or owned by Shell. Most are run as a franchise.
The owner of the station will be making payments for use of the trademark, reimbursement for the training and advisory services given to the franchisee, and also a percentage of the individual business unit's sales.0 -
Not sure what to make of this thread........
I (and a number of others) did have an interesting situation at a Tesco petrol station.
Between me filling the car and getting to the till the computer system went off, obviously using any card was out of the question. What happens now I thought...having £85 worth of petrol in the tank!
It's a well oiled procedure....the chap behind the till filled in a triplicate form (remember them?) with all my details...I signed promising I would be attending the petrol station with my part of the form and paying....didn't have
to be the exact outlet but it makes it easier...luckily it's my local.
BTW the pumps were turned off by the computer system right away...thereby limiting the number of people having to have a form issued to them.
I went back a couple of days later and paid and had a signed receipt (as well as the card one)...case closed.
Still not sure what the OP's problem was really.0 -
Calm down, it's just a wind up.0

Thanks for mentioning your mum is 62. Without that, your rant has no basis.
Did you work for the Sun once?0 -
The sign probably means that they have..err...cashflow problems and now only want to take cash and indeed CAN only take cash. This is often the excuse given at certain ethnic restaurants.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

With the luck the OP has I bet he or his mum ordered something off Bid Tv earlier in the week.0

This thread proves the theory that 50% of drivers have below average intelligence.0

A4 printed sign on the pump stating "Cash Only" but could not been seen by either the op or their mother - makes you wonder if either one of them meets the driving standards with regards to vision.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
