this sounds like something you should take up with the garage owner as the pump is clearly incorrectly calibrated. £20 o fuel should gain you £20 of fuel not any less. i have a friend who services air conditioning units and also sells second hand refrigeration, he is of the opinion that the pump is not functioning correctly. trading standards could be an option.

i am still boycotting shell as are many others i hope including all those i know. i visited the shop today as i needed some provisions but did not purchase fuel and never will again.

I've only used this Jet garage 2 times in the last 3 years and only went there as it is next to work and I was running on fumes to get home. The pumps were old rickety things from the 1980s and Mr Harjit who served me looked shifty. I won't be going back.

I like that type of Petrol station run by Mr Harjit. Does he have any Vegan Khosher Samosas on the desk that you can try. Mrs Harjit makes them out in the back with the waste engine oil.

Amazing - where is this petrol station - when i was growing up loads of local asian run corner shops used to do fresh veggie samosas. our local corner shop (ran by the Patels) used to do samosas cooked fresh by Mrs Patel several times a day, she also did a range of home made indian chilled curries and rice to take home and heat up before chilled ready meals became popular - all better than anything you get in supermarkets. i miss Patels corner shop. would Mrs Harjit be prepared to prepare a veg byriani and rice in a tinfoil lidded dish with the contents written on the lid in biro. i would top up at shell and drive all night for that.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

Fuel is sold by the litre. Different garages charge different amounts for that litre. Jet may be 131p a litre while Shell is 127p a litre. Therefore £20 worth of petrol will be a different amount in different garages.

Equipment that dispense fuel is regulated under the weight and measures act and this act does actually exist.

All the asian owned corner shops around here when I was growing up never cooked food to sell. The ones still around today mostly sell booze and fags, the odd tin of beans and packet of biscuits if you're lucky never mind fresh cooked food.

It's in Lancs Sillyvixen, but you have to follow the Nation of Yahweh religion, to be able to eat them.

In all seriousness though, I have a Marble fireplace rep who comes to see me every now and again. He always brings his mother with him, who always brings me a big platter of Samosas and Bhaji's, still warm. They stink the shop out, but they taste fantastic. My bottom is not too good the following day though !:(

I really was not going to join in this thread, but sorry to say I have to...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boycott

A boycott is an act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest, usually for social or political reasons. Sometimes, it can be a form of consumer activism.

This means in case you were not really sure and have used the wrong word all along, that you will NOT use Shell AT ALL for ANYTHING not just petrol.
