Far too much to make fun of so just a question.

if you didn't use the cash point due to the skimmer, how did you pay for the petrol?

the police had arrived and removed it by this point. we were lucky that the local police station is very nearby.

I take it you mean the skimmer? & if so again I ask why you couldn't use the cash machine?

Also why didn't the police shut down the garage due to the illegal signs?

I've worked in a national retailer once and the connection went down between the back off system and head office. We could still serve customers as the EPOS system automatically goes into offline mode when there was a connection failure. Only problem was we couldn't authorise cards with the connection being down so we had to make signs in Word, print out and put at the till.

    Illegal? I doubt it.

Any company can refuse any payment method.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THE SIGN WAS ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in breach of the trading standards act and because the sign was so scruffy not normal person would assume it was a sign. inside the shop was also scruffy and no care was taken to ensure the legally recognised sign was by the till. i could not withdraw cash from the atm as there was a skimming device attached to it at that point in time.

that is right it is the trading standards act 1864. it is section 9b i think, my friend who owns the conservatory firm (graham) has confirmed this for me as has another friend (nigel) who works for b&q so is in retail.

I'm still waiting for this proof you mentioned which I know won't happen as it doesn't exist.

not true, taxi drivers must accept cheques by law. i have a friend who owns a taxi firm who is forced to accept eleven cheques a day, despite preferring to deal in cash.

i told you my mother was insulted by shell staf

You don't seem to have written what this insult is yet, what was the insult?

Being told they can only take cash because a card system is down is NOT an insult.

shell act like they own the place when in fact they arent so as far as im concerned they couldnt give a stuff about any law so can be considered to have broken them.

they have broken the trading standards act by not displaying accurate payment information at the point of payment in a legally recognised manner. additionally they breach the health and safety law requiring workplaces to be safe by employing staff whose english is not satisfactory. they deliberately sell halal sandwiches to attract these workers.

You seem to be quoting the talking carp act!

    passenger carriage act 1931.

and the shell staff insulted my mother, a 62 year old woman, suggesting she could not pay for fuel with card.
