What age did you let your daughter get her ears pierced

My girls starting asking when they were around 13. I set the rule that when they could afford to pay for them themselves then I would have no objection. They were all around 16, apart from Daughter number 3 who was around 14.
Luckily none of them went for the tongue piercing though - I find it repulsive, and the people that I know who have had it done all seem to talk oddly and constantly play with them with their tongues which makes it even more horrible!0 -
I loved my tongue bar. I miss it loads
Most people didn't even realise I had it

That's what was recommended back when we got ours done, everyone used it, and our piercings healed well, and nobody that I knew of got any infections.
I guess everyone has they're own ways of aftercare, and that they probably recommend different things nowadays, infact if it's anything like when you have a tattoo, then they'll probably try and sell you something!0 -
I had mine done when I was 7. I was thinking earlier about letting my 9 year old have hers done at the beginning of the school holidays and my 8 year old wants hers done (they will be 9 and 10 by that time). I also have a nearly 6 year old but would not let her get hers done yet as feel that is too young.
When I was at school (over 30 years ago now) boys only used to have one ear pierced. I remember my brother asking my mum if he could have one done and she said no, so when he was about 15 he went out shopping with his friends and came back with an ear pierced, don't think my Mum spoke to him for a while, she was not happy.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -

I've got no issue with people who want to pierce whatever they want (on themselves!) and I know afew girls who have had their tongues pierced and you wouldn't know, but I've interviewed two different girls for reports in work over the years, one with a tongue bar and one with a facial piercing (Monroe?) and they spent the whole time playing with them, and the girl with the Monroe kept sort of sucking it back though the hole and then letting it go, it was rank. _pale__pale_ <heave>
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
13 years old. Then when she was 15 she did a second piercing herself! She's 16 now and asked if she could have her belly button pierced. We said no for about 3 months and then gave in. Hopefully the piercings will stop there!
This is exactly my story - are you my mum?! :rotfl:
Actually I'm 33 now, I took my belly button piercing out a few years ago as I went off it, likewise I never wear earrings in my second ear piercings now, mainly as I can't be bothered really. I went on to have my tongue pierced at 20 though so be warned!
OP I wouldn't say you are old fashioned at all, I'd say you are spot on, but would agree that the holidays are a good time so she has time to spend cleaning them etc rather than it getting forgotten when rushing around in the morning.Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0 -
My DD IS 7, nearly 8. She has been pestering for her ears pierced for around 18 months now. I've tried to put her off and tell her how much it hurts but she's adamant she wants it doing. I've given in and said she can have them done at the beginning of the school holidays :-(
I don't agree with having babies done and always said that she could have them done when she is old enough to make the decision herself!0 -

My little girl was about 3 and half years when she had her ears pierced.
She had seen me with mine in and had been asking for ages.
Why I let her have them done at that age was....she had her pre - school jab and she didn't flinch, cry etc... So when she asked I thought ok as I had mine done when I was 4 years old.
I took her to a well known tattoo and piercing studio and they were so impressed as she was bother by the "pain" at all, they said she was better then most adults.
Only thing was as we were leaving I heard "mummy I like those pictures"....had to put my foot down on that one and say not till your 18...lol0 -
I cringe at the thought of having my ears pierced at all. I have known too many people end up with infections and now that I'm an adult I seem to have survived remarkably well all these year without ever having submitted myself to that particular form of torture. I hate to see very young children with their ears pierced but that's just my personal opinion.0
