I was wearing a 34DD for years but when I got measured in Frasers' it turned out I was really a 32FF. :O
Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice. :(

I came across this tonight.... Bra buying guide for the weary. It certainly made me laugh :rotfl:

I do have one question.... When will bra manufacturers get it into their heads that large busted women want pretty, fashionable looking bras, not something that looks like it is made to go camping in!

Yup, made me laugh too, although the last time I removed the wires from a bra, it became useless because everything fell out when I leaned forward. :rotfl:

woohoo, 30DD is now my official measurement, and it feels so much better than my last (32D) - i went into m&s, and the lady seemed very knowledgeable for a change, advised me to try all new bras on the middle fitting to allow for expansion or slimmage...great advice, i used to try all new bras on the tightest fitting for some reason
At Bravissimo they advise that you buy bras based on the loosest fitting, because they will always stretch out after a few wears and washes and you'll end up needing to use the tighter fittings.

Nice to know M&S have some competent fitting staff these days  but the main issue I still have with M&S is that their sizing is non-standard. For example, there's no such thing as a FF cup at M&S

Yup, and m&s only do size 30 in 2 ranges, ceriso and limited...so their autograph and other pretty ranges are now out of my reach :(

Considering m&s do so well from their lingerie dept, they really should invest more time into designing their ranges to cater for more women, esp bigger busted as there are a lot of us around! :D

I hope someone can enlighten me as I've two burning questions please.

Why do my straps slip down during the day though I wear fitted, branded bras (John Lewis/Debenhams by Fantastie/Freya) please? It drives me insane as it's so uncomfortable. I believe I have adjusted them tight enough to stop them travelling, any tighter and I'd have indentation marks. It does seem to depend on the design and quite is annoying as the rest of the bra fits wonderfully. It's just the wretched straps!

Also, whilst I'm posting, anyone have any experience of getting a bra "tailor made" for themselves please? I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be much choice. Expensive I know but I hope it will last that much longer and save me money in the long term.

My thanks in advance for any answers. I've had these questions for a while now,

mogwai - M&S for bigger women - don't bother. Really, spend a few extra pounds and get a branded one that will last you a few years. I am a 30 band size and M&S are a rubbish fit, the cheaper the bra the cheaper the materials it is made from and is therefore not made to last. I wear Panache and I get a good few years out of each bra, the ones I am wearing now are the Tango II from Panache (which I wear all the time as they are so comfortable) are approaching 2 years and there is nothing at all wrong with them apart from some bobbling inside the strap.

In regard to the straps Organic, the same things happens to me, I was taught that a good fitted bra did not need the straps as the band and cups held everything in place. As I type the bra fits fine, put my arms in a different position and the straps fall down. If you really are having problems you need to find a bra that has straps that are adjustable from the top of the bra cup rather from the back of the bra. Some people just have smaller bodies than others.

In regard to the custom made bra, have you looked for a corsetier? I am not sure what you mean about it saving money in the long run - if you buy a branded bra such as Panache, Fantasie or Freya you will get 2,3 or 4 years out of them as long as you look after them. And they are 1/4 of the price of a custom made bra. The bras I have on now are 2 years old, I had some I wear that are approaching 4 years old and they are fine because they are looked after. Even when I lose weight my boobs tend to stay the same size so I did not have to buy more when I lost a few stone.

Organic12 - It could be the design of the bra - I usually buy Fantasie & one of their designs the straps slip the others are all fine.

Bluemonkey - Loosing a few stone Lucky you I wish I could loose a few pounds!
