Im a debenhams bra fitter, i must say (cos i used to care) that debenhams are pretty good for fittings in terms of department stores.

However bravissimo and rigby and peller are just underwear stores, who just purely focus on that and have a good training method for fitters. Unfortunatly for other stores its not always the number one priority. Although the particular store i work in is excellent and we regular get our bra fits by other clleagues for our own personal reasurement, there isnt really any good proper training involved.

I did want to work in the bra industry at one point and try and change the mountain of misconceptions around bras. It still shocks me today that people think a 30F is the same size as a 38F, and that going up a back size will solve all the problems, when usually its the reverse.

Im a small busted person so i dont have as much to hold up (and i would hope not at my age) but my mother who is a 36G swears by bras that cost about £70 onwards, she says you can really tell the difference when you wear them and i must say i can tell when she is wearing one costing £30 to when she wears her more expensive ones.. you do get what you pay for.

Although, exception to the rule, i dont think asda bras are that bad, the woman who does the ultimo bras does one for asda and they are pretty good.

Oh and also to the lady who buys the debenhams double layerd bras, they are being replaced, and if youre saggy i wouldnt go there, you gotta be fairly pert to wear them without getting lots of lines sadly.
  • The Bravissimo fitting service is excellent. I would also recommend Ultimo's D-G range available online or in some Debenhams stores.

I find that the department stores (Debenhams / M&S etc) just don't stock the bigger cup sizes.

I was in a 44E which was the largest back size I could find but then I could only get an E fitting (have to say some of this was my own fault as I refused to pay over £30 for one bra.
Then I went to "Sadie the bra lady" and found I was actually a 38HH. I cannot tell you the difference a well fitting bra makes.
Now I know my "real" size I order from mail order catalogue (Ambrose Wilson)

I have a problem with bras cause I am quite skinny (30 back) with randomly big boobs (E!) so finding a 30E bra is very annoying, by the time Ive made it to E on the rail, they start at 38, which swamps me! Theres an obvious misconception that women with larger cup sizes are "bigger" but thats not always true. I like Katie Prices new range, fits me perfect!

  • dawnybabes you beat me to it. Once you find the style and size, go to brastop.com. they sell all the same big name brands, panache, freya etc at greatly reduced prices. Stock tends to be last seasons. Their returns service is also very good

Just to add that as a "bloke with credit card", Bravissimo's a woman's best bet...She gets much more time to spend my money in there, as there's actually a decent place for me to sit and read a book...Get so fed up with taking her undy shopping and being forced to loiter in the lingerie department getting odd looks from middle aged women whilst she's trying stuff on.

I have the misfortune to live within driving distance of the Bravissimo supplier factory shop in some god-forsaken http://eveden.com/default.asp market town off the A14.....

Anyone know where I can get really big tent sized bras as bravissimo do a larger cup size (up to 40j quite frankly is you are that small round the middle with a cup size that big there are some interesting ways of earning money!) but I am a fat bird with a large bust and even Evans rarely have my size. Any suggestions gratefully received.
I find Evans bras useless which is a shame as some of them are really pretty. Try Figleaves I have a few bras from the Goddess range the 1 in the link goes up to a 48H but Figleaves go bigger than that there is 1 which is a 56FF.
I think there are usually some discount codes about too.

The link to the factory shop is not bravissimo's factory shop. They are the manufacturer for many of the leading brands including Rigby and Peller. I was lucky enough to be treated to a Rigby and Peller fitting and bra last year and it was the best thing I have ever done. I'm quite a large busted lady and was dreading going in as thought I'd be told I was massively bigger than I was (already in denial about size because of the lack of choice in high street stores) However I went in thinking I was a 40DD and came out a 38E, not a tape measure in sight! They advised of the styles that would suit my shape and what I should look for. I went to the factory shop last weekend and bought 3 new bras for £35. The most expensive was £20 which is a Fantasie Bra and sells for £56 online. They have a huge selection for bigger busts as well in pretty and sexy styles not "german helmets" as a friend describes most of the high street offerings! Highly recommend the factory shop.
