The faux excitement some people put into their comments on facebook like and share comps.
I'm not quoting anyone in particular here but things like:
'Heeeeey Wow!!!!!! Fantastic!!!!! Great Prize!!!!!!!! Spreading the word'
When it's a pencil sharpener or some such...

I sometimes write "Lovely prize" but that's about it, unless it's something I really want to win. I only ever comment in the hope that if it's a FB win, I stand more chance of receiving a message in my notifications about it :rotfl:
I don't tend to share FB comps (if I don't need to) - just putting "liked" when loads of others have written "liked and shared" always makes me feel less likely to win, rightly or wrongly!0 -
I'm not alone thinking this then.:rotfl:
if it's a useful prize then i might comment - apart from that i just put 'done and done'0 -
Don't get me started...
Bunch of brown nosers, who don't understand the meaning of the term "random draw" but instead believe they can charm the comp providers into giving them the prize.0 -
for that reason it's why i sometimes don't take my entries seriously and make an obscure comment - must be hell sifting through all the 'great prize, lovely' comments0
-
or when people put ' lovely prize, ive been ill for weeks now and having my leg cut off so could so with this!'0

Some of them obviously watch Bullseye on Challenge before entering. You can tell with the 'Great, super, smashing' comments.
And I also find it disturbing when illness is used to try and tug the heartstrings, it seems rather low to use someone else's suffering in order to win a prize.
I'm starting to think that all F/B comps should be a 'like' then fill in a form like Debehams or Poundstretchers require when running a comp. I think it's fairer that way. (Although I do like 17 fatherless children story :rotfl: Someone not long back came up with one about a poorly newt that was good too):TBEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
some of the comments made on FB today to win some mints in a tin with 'xbox' on it is staggering
my one of 'Wow - what a prize - having very few tastebuds myself the only tastes i get are mint and bacon. Getting fed up with bacon.'
should clinch it0 -
I am so tempted to use that "Sorry not to have replied earlier but I was cutting up cornflake packets to make shoes for my 17 poor fatherless children who really enjoy whatever it is you say, make or have to give away" one day on a FB comp...... it bugs the hell out of me when people use sob stories to try and get the sympathy vote, despite it being a random draw by an independent company.
What really annoys me with FB comps is how bitter some people can be when they or their friends dont win. Some of the comments are vile.Competition addict
