i wash the floor on my hands and knees, have tried loads of different mops over the years but never been happy with them
  • I've got a spin mop, a bit of a gimmick but I love it!the floors come out very clean and dry in seconds. I also have a steamer for more thorough cleaning.

I used to use the S-wiffer wet wipe cloths. Then I noticed that there was a build up of a film of dirt that wasn't being removed.

For quite a while I've gone back to using a mop and bucket with some warm water and a splash of washing-up liquid and bleach, and am very happy with the results.

I've wondered about a steam mop, especially with a view to cleaning carpets and upholstery. I've read good reports of them.

Well this was one of the reasons my DH bought me a steam mop, to do the carpets, but it was a waste of money and didn't make one heap of a difference. I didn't see any difference in my floors either and it took ages to get done. Hence why it was given away and I went back to my mop and bucket, and even DH agreed it was a waste of money.

But different strokes for different folks an all that. I'm just sticking to the things from the olden days instead of these new super dooper inventions.

I used to use a mop and bucket. I think the mop became thread bear and the bucket got compost in it (Don't ask :D ) So now its a squirt of something in the sink and microfibre cloth and down on my hands and knees.
  • Did you think the steam mop wasn't much good on carpets Irish Rose12?
