I piggin' hate moving!

Moving house next week (just exchanged) and I am rapidly getting to breaking point! I've always been a little bit of a hoarder but I think I have got rid of 9/10s of my house contents in the last month. But there's still so much to do!

Plus I have to redecorate the house as I'm giving it back to the council and the kids have left their rooms in a state: scribbles on walls etc.

Just wanted a rant really before I snap!

Me too Elise! They do say it is one of the most stressful times of your life. I've sworn not to do it again until I can pay someone else to do the whole lot, lol.

That said you'll soon be in your lovely new home and wondering what all the fuss was about. Hope it all goes well.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Since we bought a few years ago there have been a few times I would gladly have sold again......if it were not for the idea of packing!

The last week means although there is a lot of work, its busy, not that sort of waiting and dithering stress which IMO is worse. Good luck!

I will ALWAYS pay for packing now. It truly is worth EVERY PENNY!

Don't envy you! I have a house full of stuff too and remember the horrendous times when I packed it all up myself. Jeez... up half the night, running out of boxes by morning, and the (very kind!) removal men helping me do the last few bits in the morning. Never been so stressed in me life!

  • i must be total opersit as iv moved so much last 4 year and am currently moving now love a new house

im 22 weeks pregnant with 3rd child so this time around its harder but

i like to organize people and this morning dad and patner have cleared all the rubbish for the tip

my tips for moving are pack room by room label and stack in room order and when unloading take to correct room ,

pack kettle and mugs coffie tea sugar in a box in front of van so cuppas are a go when u get new place always appreciated by the unpackers

before you redecorate if its just scribbles then get a magic eraser (£shop) they work a treat
  • I have vowed never to move again.

Last time the removal van turned up a day early. I just about had a breakdown. (On the bright side they actually helped us pack)

Two weeks before my move everything was packed. I had left out minimal things.

All cleaning items were used out of a plastic storage box with a lid so at the last minute it could be loaded up and taken away.

Keep one box for kitchen open (Couple of pans, plates, Bowls, cutlery, jug, mugs),
one box for clothes open (3 outfits at most)
    Couple of towels

Then pack everything else as suggested by labelling with which room they need to go into the new house.

I feel your pain but I'm moving half of my stuff from my 4 bed house to my parents little 2 bed house as I'm going into temporary housing with the council and I've no idea how big the place will be plus hopefully I'll only be there a couple of months so seems silly to move everything twice. Its a a nightmare and I'm exhausted doing it all by myself

We've moved eight times in the past ten years and every time I vow to give up all of my possessions and become a minimalist guru. Never happens though :) There's always a point when you become absolutely sickened by all of the stuff you own - it's usually that point where you're cleaning out that random drawer of junk in the kitchen and you just think 'why the hell did I ever spend money on THAT!'

My main tip is to label boxes, and try to keep the contents logical (i.e. all kitchen stuff together). It is quite scary how long it actually takes to unpack and if you know where stuff is it makes it a lot easier to find that odd pan/sewing kit/address book!
