I moved last week so I feel your pain!

It'll all feel worth it though once you've finally unpacked enough that your new place actually feels like a home and you can relax. This week I've had a new (extremely comfortable) sofa delivered and sky installed so very much enjoying lounging around at the moment. Not sure if its possible for you but we pretty much threw everything in the spare room, it makes organising the other more important rooms much easier.

    Good luck!

As well as tea/coffee stuff make sure you leave a roll of toilet paper accessible!

Re letting pension companies etc know about your change of address, I print out a generic letter with a gap for 'your reference' at the top then go though filling them in and then post in one go.

I knew there was a reason we're still in the first house we ever bought - 29 years later! :D

Good luck, elisebutt65 - hope the rest goes smoothly!

Last time we moved we gave the removal men the keys for each house and went on holiday for a week. When we came back the contents of house A had magically transferred themselves to house B. We stayed with my sister for a couple of nights while I found the sheets and kettle amidst the tottering heap of boxes in the spare room but the furniture was roughly in the right places thanks to the diagram I'd left for them moving chaps. It was okay, I'd do it again like that. It wasn't even that much more expensive than packing it up ourselves.

When we moved into our house we had a gap between selling our flat and completing on this one.
I started packing our flat up and moving boxes out as soon as the EA came round to value. DH used to go around behind me unpacking boxes whilst I was packing them. How I didn't murder him, I'll never know! Actually, I do know, his darling Mum let me fill her garage with boxes :D. He's always the same the b*gg*r! When we moved into our interim flat for we didn't know how long (8 weeks in the end), I threatened him and made sure the 4 of us lived out of boxes as we had no idea how long it was for, we thought it could be as little as 4 days! The kids were 1 & 3 !

Moving my own stuff wouldn't be stressful, but moving OH's is! He's a hoarder and also a military re-enactor, plus does wargaming as well, so apparently everything's valuable, has to be in the house because he simply must have 24-7 access to all this stuff (which is uninsured, BTW) and cannot throw anything away in case it might come in useful some day. I have a new job elsewhere and we are now looking at possibly moving in a few months, and I'm dreading it as we can't afford removals men. Oh yes, and he doesn't drive (a VERY sore point with me now!) so I find driving many round trips in a rental van rather tiring and stressful.

I can happily give away/sell/chuck out loads of things each time we move, but I'm getting very sick of having to lug around someone else's pigging baggage with each house move. From my point of view, it's just another load of rubbish to have to store and dust, I lived quite a minimalist lifestyle when I was a singleton.

    I feel your pain.

We exchanged on Monday, had builders in for quotes on new house, and dreading the mess its going to be when we move in there in a fortnight.

We also need to leave this rental spotless as we've had a dog here.

Plus this is our third move in a year.

Trying to think of the exercise decreasing my belly, increasing my biceps and how it'll all be worth it in the end!
