It reminds me of the time my In-laws were upgrading their TV and were told by Currys that they needed a £50.00 HDMI cable.0

If my offspring thought I was doolally at 65, I wouldn't be too pleased. He made the choice let him spend in haste and repent at leisure.
People come from different backgrounds.
You might know exactly what it is you want but then there are others who don't.
If you have an overbearing salesman, someone who has never had a computer before could easily be overwhelmed and talked into purchasing things they don't need!0 -
It is the fact that the OP felt the need to say that father was 65 rather than just saying had no knowledge of computers etc that I find slightly offensive.0

I asked for factual answers to a query (which I have gratefully received) not as to whether you think I am patronising my father because he is 65. The age was simply meant to infer he doesn't have that much knowledge of tech etc. I realise that this is not always case but it has been in my experience.
Since you have no knowledge of my father's metal state, personality and my family situation etc. you should keep your personal opinions to yourself since I didn't ask for those opinions. You don't actually have anything useful to say and I don't really care if I offended you.0 -
Do you care that you have offended your father and anyone over the age of 64?
No, because I haven't. It's not my fault that you are so sensitive or maybe you simply want someone to argue with. If I insult/offend my father, that really has nothing to do with you since you have no idea what kind of a man he is.
What I actually did was state a fact. That he is 65. You took it to assume I meant he was senile, incapable etc.
I shouldn't have risen to the bait but I did and I explained what I was inferring by that fact. I got my answer and I am now bored of your opinion and your baiting.0 -
Or we can look at this a different way - perfectly competent gentleman goes to a shop, has a discussion with the salesman and makes an informed decision on what HE wants to buy, not what he has been told to buy - and buys it.0

I believe the OP to be more informed on what happened...0 -

This post explains exactly why your father is unlikely to get any money back or an exchange. By your own admisson a perfectly reasonable and able man, regardless of age, bought a laptop of his own free will. So as was said at the start of this thread, a simple change of mind does not entitle a buyer to any refund or exchange except by the goodwill of the company.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
