They have said they are still deciding upon their shortlist.
I have since seen the advert on Reed where over 100 people have applied plus on their own site.
If they are comparing me to someone in a job they will win everytime even if they have just say 2 years experience. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Here is a prime example of what I mean, I mentioned I went for an interview a couple of weeks back, there was 4 positions advertised, The 1 I applied for filled by an unemployed migrant, 2 further positions filled today again by unemployed.
From this thread I am noticing something, possibly for your professional type job yes being employed is a good thing, for your unskilled roles being unemployed is the way to go.0 -

There are many good workers that have lost their jobs over bad ones. I have seen excellent people leave my group - better people than me probably.
If you genuinely believe that there is no tendency for worse workers to be let go ahead of better workers, then there's not really any point discussing the subject further, and we should just agree to disagree.0 -

I have absolute evidence of this - I know that in my field the assumption of the bad workers being the ones made redundant is 100% incorrect. Its based entirely on when their project funding runs out.
And your assumption that its only bad employees that get made redundant does not explain those that are forced out of their jobs due to a company going bankrupt, for example. There are so many reasons why someone is made redundant. You simply cannot make the blanket statement that its because they are cr*p.0 -

I think I mentioned this before but for the benefit of this thread I'll repeat, in my last job we all got made redundant however a co-worker managed to gather up funds to get the business up and running again, Everyone was hired back bar myself and a temporary, Now I am not saying the sun shines out of my backside by any means but I was never late, never sick, I went in and actually did my job rather than ball lick around the coffee machine, I gave up things like holidays, paternity leave and look what happens. Being a good worker in my opinion has damn all to do with it, now being a good butt kisser is a different story, no one's interested in the quiet shy guy who actually does what he's paid to do.0 -

I don't know if you genuinely can't understand this, or if you are being facetious here. I never made any blanket statements, I talked of probabilities and correlations.
It would benefit you to understand the difference between these and certainty, even if you work in academia. It's central to much in life.0 -

I didn't insult or patronise you because I don't agree with your point of view. Please afford me the same courtesy.0 -
