Tax Credits Renewals - 2014

At what point should I be worried that I still haven't received my renewal pack!
Don't want to chase them if others still haven't received them.
Wish they would get on with it. Deep sigh.0 -
Mine was sent on the 21st but I haven't received it yet.0

You have until the end of July to renew. That is two months away. if you have not got your renewal pack by the beginning of July call them.
For a system with millions of claimants who have to renew it has to be a gradual process. It is to be expected. The dates you get your pack vary year to year. So stop being "annoyed" and live your life instead.0 -

I disagree.
Having an archaic system which requires waiting for a mysterious, system-generated letter to arrive is just bonkers in my opinion. Where's the logic in posting millions of letters out when people are more than capable of updating the required information via an online form any time after the end of a tax year?
In our case, we apparently fall in to one of the groups that should have been one of the first to receive our packs because we are in receipt of the maximum rate of TCs and at the end of the last tax year were in receipt of JSA, however I was told by the helpline that the timetable was for 'guidance only' and that they can only do what the system tells them to do.
It's not the advisor's fault, but even though I had every piece of information they needed to close off last year's claim, because of the way the process is designed there was no possible way to give them the information.
We have a 'potential payment' (not potential anymore) of +£1500 from 2012/13 and with debt/interest etc, it's very much in our interest to receive this money asap to keep the wolves at bay. A 2-3 month wait for this is hugely significant to us, so I think it's ok to be annoyed. This doesn't mean that I'm not living my life.0 -

Yes, silly mistake - meant to say 2013/140 -
Hi,
Only read up to page 4 so pls forgive me.
I have seen the bit about on-line renewals and have thought they should have done this years ago.
I have a part time job and am self employed too running a couple of websites.
My circumstances haven't changed except I work 2 hrs more per week and at 50p per hr more. I didn't notify them of a change as i was told there is a 5k?. Disregard.
As i am both employed and self employed can I still renew on-line or is it over the phone. The phones can be a nightmare waiting and on-line i am guessing would be a lot easier.0 -

Yes we have one of those potential payments that would be helpful sooner rather than later. Our income circumstances are also slightly worse than estimated on the letters we have.
I am also still waiting for our renewal letter. I have written in my diary that is should arrive this week at the latest, based on info I got from an advisor at the beginning of April, so fingers crossed.
My sister got hers weeks ago.
I agree, it does seem a bit old fashioned and wasteful as they send out quite a lot of paper and that is just to me!
My local council has just stopped paper council tax bills and we have to do it all online, so I'm sure it is possible.0 -

However your 2014/15 claim may be. It would depend on the figures and the circumstances of your claim.
Tax credits were online a number of years ago but there was a lot of fraudulent activity so was shut down. It is only being trialled again this year (I assume to make way for universal credits). I'm not sure how cases have been selected. If you can't do it online and don't want to phone then you could fill out the form and post it back.
Hi,
No I am fine either way, it's just sometimes by phone it can be so time consuming if you get stuck in the queues and then get cut off etc :-)
Doing it on-line will save all that :-)0 -

Well that is their choice really whether they fill it in or not- paper or online wouldn't matter if those people can't be bothered?0 -
Can anyone help me. My brain is totally fried and I have wasted a stupid amount of hours trying to work this out now.
We are a married couple with 2 young children and for the past year we have been receiving tax credits as our 2012/2013 income was £28,145. (mainly due to me being on maternity leave)
However our joint income for 2013/2014 has increased to £33,213.
I'm assuming that this means we will no receive nothing.
We are in a DMP and I am now concerned that we are going to owe HMRC a lot of money as our income has increased more than we had anticipated.
I've never been in this situation before and have no idea how it works. I've just sent my form back to them with the updated income info. Will they send me a letter stating how much I owe with a date to pay by?
Thank you in advance.I'm FINALLY debt free! DFW Long Hauler #227LBM - Jan 2006  March 2006 -£26,725  Apr 2015 - £0!!! :jBaby boy born 1/8/08 Baby girl born 28/6/120
