Zara was on raw diet till she was about 18 months old - I was working 15 min from home, had shops near by etc etc.

At this moment it is just not practical at all.

Zara is VERY good with my 4 cats , loves them to bits BUT I would not leave her alone with a bone and cats around, all meals would have to be supervised.

I am not at home Mon-Fri to take delivery in, most places do not have saturday delivery option. I do not drive, I have no shops near by that would charge what I think would be reasonable.

I live in a flat - I do not fancy finding a bone under my pillow (Zara hides what she likes) slowly defrosting and "bleeding out" - yukkkk or come home to floors covered in blood.

    I am a vegetarian...

    etc etc...

It just would not work for us - and also I would be worried.

I know SOME vets recommend raw feeding but also SOME are tottaly against it having seen damage a splinter of a bone can do to the dog's insides. And it only takes one accident like that to completely freak me out - unfortunately heard of quite a few.

Some dogs will be fine and there will be one that is not fine - I do not want that one to be my baby...

Exactly as you say - works for some and great, for me it would not...

Chappie do a 1.2KG tin - thinks it's about £1.20? (I've a young Bernese x spaniel currently weighing in at 40KG and still growing!!!) Think it may come in a no chicken variety too.

Thanks but I am thinking something better quality than Chappie, not sure I like the content/ingridients and reviews are pretty low.

Looked at Burns again, spoke to their nutritionist, recommended 2.5 pouches per day so would need 88 per month.

12 pouches cost 16 pounds on zooplus, would need 8 packs like that so 8x16 = 128 per month.. hmmmmm

I don't know Zara's history, but does it have to be tinned? Can she not eat dried?

Butchers do a tinned tripe which I resort to in emergencies when we have ran out of raw, they do it in 1200g tins, which my girls will eat 2 a day each, although of course they are bigger than Zara (53/56kgs)
I know Butchers doesn't have a great rep either but the tinned tripe seems to g down well and doesn't make them loose or smelly. They only have it occasionally however.

Ermm - I am asking about tinned as want her to eat moist food not dried.

My cats are at Butchers and they love it - but with Zara's sensitive stomach I really want a very good quality food for her.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Vets often like chappie wet.

I understand its good on 'difficult' tummies, and some medical conditions. Its also comparatively cheap and better than some improvised diets.

While its not my food of choice I'd consider chappie under some circumstances before other foods.

That's fine, I was just asking. Personally I prefer dried food but each their own.

Glad you like it - does your dog like it too?

Joking aside, in my opening post I stated what I am looking for - don't you read posts you are replying to?

Zara is currently on Orijen which is dry food, I want to change her food for tinned so no point suggesting dry food, is there?

Back to topic - emailed My.Big.Dog (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) as liked some options on their website - asked them if they deliver on Saturday (frozen range). They do not.

I can not have like almost 30kg of frozen dog food sitting outside my block of flats till I get home in the evening - so another supplier down.

I wish people running those businesses realised that some of us need to schedule deliveries for when we are at home, especially for items that may get spoilt etc. I would not mind to pay extra for Saturday delivery and know quite a few people who would be happy to do the same...

There's no need to be rude. I did read the post and also stated I didn't know the dog's history and was just asking whether dried would be an option as you can't find a tinned food suitable. I am not familiar with the brand Orijen.

In regards to parcel delivery, would a neighbour be able to receive parcels for you?
