Tinned food for large dog?

Had a look at various tinned food on Zooplus and most comes in normal size (400g or under) tins and their feeding recommendations end on like 15-20kg dogs so no idea how many tins would I need for Zara.
Can anyone recommend a good quality tinned dog food that comes in like 800g tins or bigger?
Zara is 41kg, should be around 36kg but we age getting nowhere trying to diet on Orijen - she has been on Orijen for long time ow and on really small amount but instead of losing weight she put 1 kg extra on - had blood tests done, all within range (scratching head)
Not chicken (Zara does not react well to chicken) and not Burns (I do not think they are that good to be honest - am I wrong?)
I know a lot of you fear raw but I really haven';t got the time for that I am afraid - my current job takes me nearly 1 hour 45 minutes EACH way commuting so Zara s back on 2 walks with dog walker while I am at work etc etc....
Currently on Orijen Fish it costs me about £40-50 per month for Zara but do not mind to pay more for good quality tinns.
Not at home to take in delivery of frozen raw so has to be tins...
Win the lotteyr? Sigh....
Thanks a lot

Could you not just assume a 40kg dog needs twice as much as a 20kg dog and feed two 400g tins? You could then see how she responds, losing weight or gaining weight, and adjust.
Alternatively, I think I posted a calorie calculator on one of your previous threads, you could work it out from that. I think the Which Dog Food website gives calories in listed foods, making it easy if you just work out how many calories a 36kg dog needs.0 -

Problem is it doe snot work quite like that - can not just double as when I look what 10kg dog needs ad what 20kg dog needs according to feeding guide - it is not double. It increases weirdly with the weight.. sighhhh
Also, can not imagine small 400gram tins and not knowing which tinned food would be good - no idea what I am looking for?
Scratching head (again)
Would liek bigger tins, like 800gram but very few brands do those - I know Burns do (used to feed Zara Burns) but not that many more0 -
But it would give a general guideline, and Zara's weight (and hunger levels) would then tell you whether to feed more or less.
I don't see the point of limiting yourself to brands that sell 800g tins (as you've found out, very few do) when you could just feed 2x 500g
The Which Dog Food website will give you a list of recommended foods and estimated costs, and I'm sure you have a general idea of what to look out for in the ingredients list by now0 -
When you say you don't have time for raw.
My dog has had nothing but frozen raw for 4 years now - frozen carcasses, frozen fish, frozen liver .... She gets it straight out of the freezer, can gnaw on it as it defrosts or crunch it up if she likes, and looks great. Was our vet's recommendation after she had pancreatitis .... and then got awful fat on Hill's special dry food ... Never looked back!0 -
Krlyr - thanks, you are right, will have a look there , just really REALLY tired so possibly at the weekend
But in the meantime, if anyone can recommend good quality dog tinned food, pls post here. Thanks a lot.
Scoot2006 - thanks, glad it works for you and your dog but believe me I know what I am saying when I say I do not have time for that. Also, to be honest, heard too many horror stories about raw bones .. You know there are some completely for raw and some tottaly against. I guess I sit in the middle, Zara gets a bone/fresh meat now and again but I would nto feed complete raw food - especially not unsupervised.0 -
NOt sure the link will work but this is what search(thanks Krlyr) came up with

There was no option to search for wet food only - so got to go through the list now...
And lots of those brands I never heard about...0 -
And I am looking at Natural Instincts...
Why "raw" never comes with fish? Or does it but I do not see it?
As I said, Zara is no good with chicken (upset stomach) so probably turkey would not be that good either...
Ahhhhhhhhhhh - found the advanced search option there
and it went down from 80 to 5..LOL and 2 of them up to 7 years of age when I stated Zara is in the 7-10 range... sighhh

Raw comes as fish. I have frozen white fish in my freezer and oily fish ground with beef
I don't think you should feed raw though, I don't think you should do something you don my feel comfortable with. Raw is NOT the only way to feed.0 -
Thanks, I really do not feel comfortable (more reasons than just time) to feed raw alone.
Will look at the weekend and do some research when I have 4 days off at Easter (wohooooooooooooooooooooo) - for about a month's worth of Orijen so about 2 weeks to decide as would need to mix with current food for a bit first as with Zara's stomach have to get it right.

And I feel much happier now mine are back on raw.
Horses for courses.
Fwiw, mine ( aside from bones) are As quick eating raw meals as other food, just requires a little organisation ( and freezer space). In fact, my fussy eater it SAVES me time and the very fast eater I'd say eats a little more slowly.
What I like about bones is that its occupying and takes them time, gives them something natural, instinctive and enjoyable to do to occupy themselves. HOWEVER, we chose our home knowing how we wanted to keep our animals and made our choices with this sort of thing in mind, it fits with our lifestyle, and wouldn't with everyone's. For two years we have had builders in and between that and my health raw was not practical, so we didn't feed raw.0
