Hi soolin. Thanks for your advice in this thread.
Can you or someone else answer another question please?
As I said, I have usually just started 99p auctions in the past so am not used to the listing fee. If I have a number of the same item to sell does only 1 listing fee apply if I set the quantity to more than 1? ie is it still 40p to list 5 of one thing or are you charged somewhere for each one that is sold?0 -

You pay once per BIN, regardless sold whether there is one item or ten.
However, it's unlikely that a private seller would have multiples of the same item in the same condition for sale.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I did not get invited to the party this weekend for 100 free listings and yet my friend got invites on BOTH his accounts so how on earth did they allocate them?
Just a tip in case you didn't know.
They do not always email you and I often find they have "hidden" the invite by just sneaking it in at the bottom of your "all selling" page.
This is usually done in the early hours of the actual free listing day.
Always worth a check
;)
Alternatively go ahead and list one item and see if you get it through for free.0 -

I have found all their sneaky tricks up until now but this one definitely seems to have been by message into the eBay inbox (and not into personal email too) according to most people I know who had it. I still don't get how this is a good business decision on their part as they haven't had a sniff of any fees from me in a couple of weeks now as I was not going to waste fees on relisting. Anyone who doesn't access their eBay account regularly may have been offered the free weekend and not used it so I think they made a bit of a mistake dishing it out selectively.
As it is just past the witching hour I don't see any announcements this week either in any of their usual places so they won't be making anything out of me this week either!0 -

I have never had an invite showing in my inbox on eBay , I have occasionally had invites sent to my email address . I have been able to use very single FL event since Christmas bar one, although on at least one other occasion I didn't bother trying as it wasn't convenient.
If we get the alert from here and it is convenient for me I always do a test list even before I check my email messages. I would not be expecting one this weekend as there have been no alerts and it does not fit the usual pattern.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Last weekend on my OH's personal account I couldn't see the invite, but just to double check, went in a=nd clicked "relist" on something and could see it was going to charge me 25p relist fee, so I just clicked cancel.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I did think there was a slight chance there would be one this weekend as there is 3 weeks between the bank holidays in May and as I would expect there to be Free Listing in 2 weeks for the Bank Holiday they have either got to do FLW 2 weeks running or have a gap of 3 weeks.0

I have just sold a few items on eBay - the first time in over 18 months. Only one of these was free as I didn't want to risk selling something as low as 99p when I know it is worth substantially more.
I don't seem to get any notifications about changes to selling terms and conditions either by email or in my eBay messages. Can I therefore thank MSE for their notice and for soolin's link to the latest announcement. Having had a good search I've found the 'Announcements' links in pale grey at the very foot of the page in small print. LOL.
Luckily I don't have a lot of small items to sell so don't need the 100 free listings that are going to be lost to many. If I did have so much to sell I would go to the local car boot sale, but I realize that isn't possible for everyone.
The bonus for me is that I won't have to pay a listings fee for any additional items that I may want to list at over 99p.
The biggest surprise to me this time was the increase to eBay's Final Valuation Fee (FVF) to the total sale price which now includes p&p. Considering that the newly privatised Royal Mail are increasing their prices it seems rather unfair to have to pay another 10% on top of the higher postal prices. I'm sure that gripe has already been raised when the increase was announced (which I didn't get to see).
I have been disappointed at the amount of sniping that goes on in the forum posts. It is one reason I rarely use a forum for anything other than advice.0
