Ooh, just doing a quick womble through my competitors listings and notice that one of them is now showing as a business seller. Last time I checked, a few days ago, they were still masquerading as a private seller.

I wonder if they jumped or were pushed? I suspect with the huge amounts of business stock they have always listed that they might well have decided to upgrade voluntarily rather than cut back on their shop listings.

  • I have read the announcement but still not sure about this. I have a private shop so do I get 100 free listings with the shop and 20 with my ebay account? Also, will the 20 listing have 'multi-variations' with BiN and can they be 'listed till cancelled' as I can with my shop BiN's?
    TIA

I think you may have to trawl through the small print, although I imagine it would be difficult to persuade ebay that any private seller would need MVLs in any quantitiy if you are only selling your own unwanted items.

Best read the small print though.

Incidentally, it might pay you to look at registering as a business even if you are not as business shops will retain their 200 free listings.

  • I use the MVLs for things that are similar, I sell used items so I don't have a stock of the same thing in different colours or such. It just means I can get more listed and they are grouped together.

I had thought about using a business shop, I have a redundant business account, but it's a balance between the extra 100 listings and 8% or 10% FVF. I will see how much the reduced listings impact my sales and then decide.

    Thanks

Can someone please advise what the Private Shop option is and where there is detail of this on Ebay? I only see information on Business Sellers opening a shop.

And what other places are there anyway to sell items other than Ebay?

I would sell a lot of my surplus plants during the summer time and this new restriction isn't very helpful at all as most of the items would be started off as a 99p auction. :(

Private sellers can only have a basic shop- and the sign up details are here:

As for other venues, I would suggest facebook sales would be a great place for plants as you can see locally an dnot have to worry about packing and posting. Take cash on collection and pay no fees at all.

I wouldn't rely on that, I suspect they haven't changed the wording to reflect the period ends on 12th May rather than end of May.

Yes, I noticed that on mine too.

But I don't trust them to get things like that right...... I'm having a last hurrah re-listing spree, and will use all my 99p's by 13th May.
