Theres something in that article about what kind of stuff to eat on a cheat meal, specifically about poor quality low nutrient food having the capacity to ruin a weeks worth of good work.
*sigh* there was nothing wrong with some of the things I had yesterday, it's not like I had no veg and went for a massive pizza
Ok I could have had something healthy at home but I didn't, big deal0 -
Tink, you have started this thread because your weight loss plan wasn't really producing the sustained results you wanted. Don't you see that, as long as you refuse to look at what you eat and how much of it, with a view to making radical changes to re-train your taste and appetite, your situation won't change? Crisps and sandwiches and all that starch are NOT weight loss promoting. That's the long and short of it.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I started this because yes I was struggling to get back into it but I am back into it I never once said it wasn't giving me the results I wanted
I HAVE lost weight eating sandwiches and crisps
I have cut the crisps a bit though0 -

You had some watercress and some tomato on your pizza bread. The rest of it is processed rubbish, full of fat and sugar and salt and very little nutrition apart from calories.
People are trying to help you here, it's up to you whether you take their advice or not. I suspect you probably wont.
You are absolutely right in that its not a race to get the weight off, if I looked at my own weight loss over the last year Ive lost on average less than a pound a week, as far as Im concerned thats totally fine. But even active people get plateaus. Ive had several as I said before. Ive had days where Ive been eating healthily, working out really hard and nothing's moved. Ive had weeks where Ive been doing the same and nothings moved. And then the weight starts coming off again. We cant always predict how our body will react to what we eat and what exercise we do. At the beginning, I lost weight quickly, I had a lot to lose, it was easy, it only took some cutting portion sizes and some exercise for the weight to come off. Two stones in and it was much much harder for me. You might think with what you are doing you are going to lose on average a pound a week, your body might think otherwise.
Plateaus happen. Im also surprised that given the fact that youve adjusted your calorie intake downwards by quite a lot that when you are having your cheat day, that you arent getting halfway through the meal and thinking I cant finish this. As I said before, I physically cannot eat the same quantity of food that I did a few stones ago, I get to a certain point and its like stop. But maybe thats because Im not doing a cheat meal every week, Im only doing it occasionally.0 -

I'm hoping you know her of old as I'm really quite concerned about her health right now. Is there any way we can actually reach her??
You do seem to have more of a psychological effect on her then the rest of us. Help!! :A“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Don't get me wrong I know I'll have to continue to make changes as I go but right now it ain't broke so it don't need fixing0 -

Thanks for confirming any advice toward her is futile. However, I think I'll still monitor the thread purely because of the many fantastic members that have sought advice on the back of this thread“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

No, really there isn't any way of reaching her. She has been doing this for years and has received loads of expert advice. Please don't get emotionally involved.
She isn't prepared to do anything that requires real effort or dedication and no doubt the cycle will continue.0 -
