Excellent news! I've been looking at the photos I took in 1976, my first year of big travels, and because there were only films, no digital, I took many, many fewer - all of us did then, I suppose. Its a shame, in a lot of ways, as they do help spark memories - and I'll be really interested in views of Scotland from your cruise ship itself - seeing the coast from off out to sea is a wonderful thing :)

Yes, back in the days of film, it was normal to take one picture of a location, and that was it. Now we take multiple photos from every angle.

In some ways, the old days had merit, as we tended to spend more time just experiencing the moment, rather than living it behind a lens.

But I have to say, I love my digital camera.

The water bill has finally turned up. The meter was read on 14th April, but the bill is dated 17th May and the direct debit will be taken on 5th June, exactly one month later than normal. Weird.
We've used less water than normal, be we were away for 5 weeks.

Other financial news - found a 2p piece when I was out for my walk!

  • How great it is now that we can delete the rubbish photos and not pay to print them!

That reminds me of my mother in law.

She had a film developed, but she thought her camera had gone wrong, as every photo was a sort of blurry splodge.

I looked at the photos, and thought one of the splodges looked like an ear.

Then I realised what had happened.

She'd been holding the camera the wrong way round, and had been taking close up photos of her head!:rotfl:

We've done our annual review of bills

We've done this ever since we got married

We pay a sum into a 'bills account' each month. We review the bills over the last 12 months, and then give our best guess as to what the bills will be for the next 12 months. Then we amend the monthly payment to the bills account.

The good news is, we overestimated what we'd need to pay over the last 12 months, and our estimate for the coming 12 months is less than the current monthly payment to the bills account. So we'll keep the payment unchanged, as it'll build up a buffer of money for anything unforeseen.

Had a nice day out yesterday in Canterbury.

In the morning we used our English Heritage membership to go to St Augustine's Abbey, then had lunch in Pizza Express (I downloaded a 30% off voucher) and in the afternoon we went to see Annie at the Marlowe. I first saw this show back in the 70's and it was as good as ever

Sounds like a lovely day Goldie.

I've just booked for a couple of outdoor theatre productions in the next few months. Never been to an outside production before and looking forward to having a picnic at the same time!

Have a lovely BH weekend :)
